Squaring the room and adding natural materials erased the memory of the lack luster space and converted it to a bright and welcoming spa oasis. The home was a new build in 2005 and it looked like all the builder’s material choices remained. The client was clear on their design direction but were challenged by the differing ceiling heights and were looking to hire a design-build firm that could resolve that issue. This local Glen Ellyn couple found us on Instagram (@kitchenstudioge, follow us ?). They loved our designs and felt like we fit their style. They requested a full primary bath renovation to include a large shower, soaking tub, double vanity with storage options, and heated floors. The wife also really wanted a separate make-up vanity. The biggest challenge presented to us was to architecturally marry the various ceiling heights and deliver a streamlined design. The existing layout worked well for the couple, so we kept everything in place, except we enlarged the shower and replaced the built-in tub with a lovely free-standing model. We also added a sitting make-up vanity. We were able to eliminate the awkward ceiling lines by extending all the walls to the highest level. Then, to accommodate the sprinklers and HVAC, lowered the ceiling height over the entrance and shower area which then opens to the 2-story vanity and tub area. Very dramatic! This high-end home deserved high-end fixtures. The homeowners also quickly realized they loved the look of natural marble and wanted to use as much of it as possible in their new bath. They chose a marble slab from the stone yard for the countertops and back splash, and we found complimentary marble tile for the shower. The homeowners also liked the idea of mixing metals in their new posh bathroom and loved the look of black, gold, and chrome. Although our clients were very clear on their style, they were having a difficult time pulling it all together and envisioning the final product. As interior designers it is our job to translate and elevate our clients’ ideas into a deliverable design. We presented the homeowners with mood boards and 3D renderings of our modern, clean, white marble design. Since the color scheme was relatively neutral, at the homeowner’s request, we decided to add of interest with the patterns and shapes in the room. We were first inspired by the shower floor tile with its circular/linear motif. We designed the cabinetry, floor and wall tiles, mirrors, cabinet pulls, and wainscoting to have a square or rectangular shape, and then to create interest we added perfectly placed circles to contrast with the rectangular shapes. The globe shaped chandelier against the square wall trim is a delightful yet subtle juxtaposition. The clients were overjoyed with our interpretation of their vision and impressed with the level of detail we brought to the project. It’s one thing to know how you want a space to look, but it takes a special set of skills to create the design and see it thorough to implementation. This master suite was created. One of the bedrooms adjacent to the master was transformed into a large master bathroom and a spacious walk-in closet. The room was designed so that the fireplace is flanked by 2 teak barn doors. The design is modern but the attention to detail and spare design is a perfect compliment to the craftsman style of the house.

This amazing wet room earned a first place award at the 2017 Calvalcade Tour of Homes in Naperville, IL! The trackless sliding glass shower doors allow for clean lines and more space.

These Broomall, PA clients wanted a sleek modern master bath and it turned out great. We chose a Japanese soaking tub for in front of the bathrooms large window. This tub choice gave the client the freestanding tub they wanted and was a great choice for the size of the space. We custom made an expansive floating vanity and linen closet in Asian night finish to fill the adjacent wall with plenty of storage. All new tile was installed throughout the bathroom floors and walk in shower and toilet room. A sliding frameless glass door was added between the toilet/ shower room and the main bath. The clean quartz countertops, full length mirror and all the other fixtures add to the new modern feel.

This large master bath features Arizona Tile's Metalwood Iridio on the shower walls, Bedrosians Hampton Seaside Glass Mosiac tile for the accent tile in the shower, and Emser Tile's Baja Mexicali Mosiac tile in the shower pan. The bathtub is Hydrosystems Studio Whirlpool tub and all faucets in this bathroom are from MOEN. The vanity is from Starmark in their Farmington Cherry Wood with a Java stain. A bookshelf to the left of the Victoria + Albert soaking tub in the master bathroom acts as a library, provides towel storage, and houses a pullout hamper. The walls and countertops are honed Crema Marfil marble to create a calming environment.

This client had a bathroom with a great layout but it was outdated and there were some things that never made sense. For instance, the entry is double doors facing the back wall of the shower - which originally had no light. Simply adding recessed lighting made the whole space more welcoming. The dated under-mount tub was replaced with a gorgeous freestanding tub. We added film to the window by the tub for privacy. Two beautiful sliding glass doors now hang in the new shower with marble accents. His & hers vanity areas each have ample storage below and on the towers - topped with stunning fixtures, a uniquely formed sink and tile mirrors.

This master bathroom has a two-person curbless shower, wall-mounted floating vanity, and a freestanding tub. The fixed panels on the shower glass run from floor to ceiling and the glass is mounted using U-channel rather than clamps for a clean look. The shower door stops short of the ceiling to allow for ventilation.
