This great room is stunning! Tall wood windows and doors, exposed trusses and the private view make the room a perfect blank canvas. The room was lacking contrast, lighting, window treatments and functional furniture to make the space usable by the entire family. By creating custom furniture we maximized seating while keeping the furniture scale within proportion for the room. New carpet, beautiful herringbone fabric wallpaper and a very long console to house the children's toys rounds out this spectacular room. A large square cocktail table anchors the new furniture arrangement and it's salvaged wood adds texture to the soft furnishings. Two new sofas balance the large room and provide comfortable seating for 8 - 10 people. New built-ins on either side of the fireplace provide ample storage for toys and audio visual equipment, while the dark wall color helps the television to disappear when not in use.

The grouping of 4 mirrors on a large back wall help to open up the space with their reflection. A grey-blue open floor plan home that incorporates feminine touch to this transitional space. The kitchen and family room remodel transformed the home into a new, fresh space with a great backbone for clean lined furnishings and modern accessories.

The soul of the house can be felt in the original formal living room just beyond the entry, with its 12ft ceilings and original fireplace. We recreated the original crown molding and casework for the windows and doors, and extended it throughout the new spaces to provide an echo of the past. The huge windows punctuate the walls, letting in large, slanting beams of winter light. A study opens to the side, lined with bookshelves. It has a timeless feeling and presence, before transitioning into the newer spaces. Photography by Ryan Davis | CG&S Design-Build
