This living room got a total make over. Beautiful new gray laminate flooring. A fresh coat of paint on the walls. Paint color is Sherwin William Agreeable Gray. The fireplace used to just sit flush against the wall without a mantel. We added this beautiful gray patterned tile. Made a wood mantel, and then added shiplap. We ran the shiplap vertically to carry your eye all the way up to the ceiling.

Earlier this year we completed a kitchen, lounge and bedroom refurbishment on behalf of our lovely client, and felt honoured to be called back to also refurbish their dining room into a cosy snug area recently. When designing the space, we wanted to repeat similar materials, colours and themes that were in the other refurbished areas so that our client's property had flow and harmony. We replaced the flooring throughout the house and incorporated a gorgeous sisal rug made from the same material as the main lounge and had the space painted in the same colour as the hallway and had a feature wall installed to provide tantalising texture. Before doing this, we had the side window safely boarded up so that wall lights could be installed and so that the room regained it's symmetry. Previously, the window provided only a restricted amount of day light due to the neighbouring property obstructing light, and hence, was redundant of it's primary function. We decided to install wall lights each side of the television to provide additional lighting that did not obstruct the view of the TV. Overall, the space was transformed into an indulgent yet gloriously cosy room, perfect for snuggling up, watching a film and welcoming those winter nights in.

How do you flip a blank canvas into a Home? Make it as personable as you can. I follow my own path when it comes to creativity. As a designer, you recognize many trends, but my passion is my only drive. What is Home? Its where children come home from school. It's also where people have their gatherings, a place most people use as a sanctuary after a long day. For me, a home is a place meant to be shared. It's somewhere to bring people together. Home is about sharing, yet it's also an outlet, and I design it so that my clients can feel they could be anywhere when they are at Home. Those quiet corners where you can rest and reflect are essential even for a few minutes; The texture of wood, the plants, and the small touches like the rolled-up towels help set the mood. It's no accident that you forget where you are when you step into a Master-bathroom – that's the art of escape! There's no need to compromise your desires; it may appeal to your head as much as your heart.

Double aspect living room painted in Farrow & Ball Cornforth White, with a large grey rug layered with a cowhide (both from The Rug Seller). The large coffee table (100x100cm) is from La Redoute and it was chosen as it provides excellent storage. A glass table was not an option for this family who wanted to use the table as a footstool when watching movies! The sofa is the Eden from the Sofa Workshop via DFS. The cushions are from H&M and the throw by Hermes, The brass side tables are via Houseology and they are by Dutchbone, a Danish interiors brand. The table lamps are by Safavieh. The roses canvas was drawn by the owner's grandma. A natural high fence that surrounds the back garden provides privacy and as a result the owners felt that curtains were not needed on this side of the room. The floor is a 12mm laminate in smoked oak colour. Photo: Jenny Kakoudakis
