This entryway and living area are part of an adventuresome project my wife and I embarked upon to create a complete apartment in the basement of our townhouse. We designed a floor plan that creatively and efficiently used all of the 385-square-foot-space, without sacrificing beauty, comfort or function – and all without breaking the bank! To maximize our budget, we did the work ourselves and added everything from thrift store finds to DIY wall art to bring it all together.
We added a swag of sheer chiffon and twinkle lights to frame the orange wall, adding accent lighting and a touch of Arabian flavor.

We are delighted to reveal our recent ‘House of Colour’ Barnes project.
We had such fun designing a space that’s not just aesthetically playful and vibrant, but also functional and comfortable for a young family. We loved incorporating lively hues, bold patterns and luxurious textures. What a pleasure to have creative freedom designing interiors that reflect our client’s personality.

We tore down walls between the living room and kitchen to create an open concept floor plan. Additionally, we added real red bricks to add texture and character to the living room. The wide windows let light travel freely between both spaces, creating a warm and cozy vibe.

The bones of this house are a handsome light filled bungalow mid century modern yet the clients taste is far from that. Dark wood paneling was calling out for some color to enhance and update it’s beauty. The luxurious orange velvet tufted tuxedo style sofa and mix of animal prints on pillows and rugs only make their collection of art more mysterious and intriguing.

Rich and warm, this beautiful 1920s Spanish Revival has been glamorously restored with timeless décor, combining heirloom antiques, and luxurious fabrics and furnishings. Authentic details such as the color wash on the walls historically enhance the home’s classic architecture.

Blackline Renovations
Keeping within the original footprint, the cased openings between the living room and dining room were widened to create better flow. Low built-in bookshelves were added below the windows in the living room, as well as full-height bookshelves in the dining room, both purposely matched to fit the home’s original 1920’s architecture. The wood flooring was matched and re-finished throughout the home to seamlessly blend the rooms and make the space look larger. In addition to the interior remodel, the home’s exterior received a new facelift with a fresh coat of paint and repairs to the existing siding.
