The previous kitchen in this family's home was transformed to a beautiful and functional 'work of art' kitchen. As part of an entire first floor remodel, walls were removed, the fireplace relocated, leaded glass windows installed, and conversion of porch space to a new dining area. The new kitchen features granite counters, state-of-the-art appliances, and custom cabinetry. Hardwood flooring accented with black walnut borders was tied into the existing flooring to provide a seamless transition to the existing home.

I designed an inexpensive kitchen remodel that re-purposed ten year old shaker style kitchen cabinets. In order to give them an old world look, moldings were added and then the cabinets were painted and antiqued.
Venetian plaster was used as the kitchen backsplash because it's a fabulously frugal option that lends itself to just about any decorating style, and you can do it yourself for around $100. We saved the cash for the focal point, which is a BlueStar cooktop, surrounded by an arched floor to ceiling enclosure made of travertine tiles, designed to look like a Tuscan brick oven.
The island is new, but was made on the cheap with only 3 cabinets across the front. The back and sides are just matching wood veneers over a plywood frame, with decorative moldings added.

Influenced by traditional Spanish architecture, the use of time-honored materials such as wrought iron, clay pavers and roof tiles, colorful hand-painted ceramic tiles, and rustic wood details give this home its unique character. The spectacular ocean views are captured from decks and balconies, while the basement houses a media room, wine cellar, and guest rooms. The plan allows one to circulate effortlessly from space to space with portals or arched openings rather than doors as the transition between rooms.

The owners of this lovely home wished to display many of their treasures collected in their several trips throughout Europe. We enjoyed creating a kitchen design that celebrated the European charm complete with an AGA cooker.

Two pantries are in this house, one in the back of this photo and another even larger walk-in pantry off of the butler pantry.

A chef's stove was the most popular of remodelers' dream appliances. 32% want a chef-ready six-burner with all the bells and whistles of a commercial stove top. 18% want double ovens. 9% want an induction cooktop.
