The goal of this project was to update the outdated master bathroom to better meet the homeowners design tastes and the style of the rest of this foothills home, as well as update all the doors on the first floor, and create a contemporary mud room and staircase to the basement. The homeowners wanted a master suite that had a masculine feel, incorporated elements of black steel, wood, and contrast with clean white tiles and counter-tops and helped their long and skinny layout feel larger/ make better use of the space they have. They also wanted a more spacious and luxurious shower with water temperature control. A large window that existed above the original soaking tub offered spectacular views down into Boulder valley and it was important to keep this element in the updated design. However, privacy was also very important. Therefore, a custom-built powder coated steel shelf, was created to provide privacy blocking, add storage, and add a contrasting design element to the white wall tiles. Black honeycomb floor tiles, new black walnut cabinetry, contemporary wall paper, a floor to ceiling glass shower wall, and updated fixtures elevated the space and gave the clients exactly the look and feel that they wanted. Unique custom metal design elements can be found throughout the new spaces (shower, mud room bench and shelving, and staircase railings and guardrails), and give this home the contemporary feel that the homeowners desired.

This relatively new home in Quarton Lake Estates had an existing large master bathroom. However, the room was cut up with partitions for toilet, shower, and tub, making it feel small and outdated. Our clients wanted a light bright welcoming bathroom to match the rest of their gorgeous home. The bathroom was gutted back to the studs. Both outside corners of the bathroom have eaves that encroach on the interior of the bathroom ceiling height. Working around the eaves and maintaining headroom with fluid design was a key element for this bathroom remodel.

To gain more space for the bathroom, we relocated the existing laundry room to upstairs. Custom drawers that hug the plumbing under the vanity provide additional storage and improve functionality. Warm brass fixtures and accessories reflect light—and the nautical theme. The linear tile detail draws the eye up and nautical details include a mirror with rope detailing and ship light sconces.

SeaThru is a new, waterfront, modern home. SeaThru was inspired by the mid-century modern homes from our area, known as the Sarasota School of Architecture. This homes designed to offer more than the standard, ubiquitous rear-yard waterfront outdoor space. A central courtyard offer the residents a respite from the heat that accompanies west sun, and creates a gorgeous intermediate view fro guest staying in the semi-attached guest suite, who can actually SEE THROUGH the main living space and enjoy the bay views. Noble materials such as stone cladding, oak floors, composite wood louver screens and generous amounts of glass lend to a relaxed, warm-contemporary feeling not typically common to these types of homes. Carter Fox Renovations was hired to do a total gut job on this 100-year old East Toronto semi-detached home. On the main floor we opened up the space, removed all the original finishes and installed all new hardwood flooring, electrical and plumbing. Upstairs we reconfigured the bathroom, installed hardwood throughout, restored the original plaster ceilings and walls and painted the entire space. The clients are thrilled with their new space - especially the kitchen-focused main floor, which features a coffee bar, lots of storage and a compact main floor powder room tucked under the stairs. We designed these custom cabinets in a walnut finish and mixed many different materials on purpose... wood, chrome, metal, porcelain. They all add so much interest together.
