In addition to all of this, on ground pools are not prone to the same effects of terrain and ground water as in ground swimming pools. For example: clay soil, sloping yards, rocky terrain, high water tables, and standing water can all wreak havoc on in ground pools, as can the ground upheaval associated with the winters many of us have come to know all too well. Because they are built-on-the-ground, our Deck-Pool and Olympic Eagle swimming pools are not affected by such factors.

Mike Farley Pool Designer, SWD, ASLAThis pool project has some cool elements all combined together to create an outdoor playground. The main focal point from the house is the raised wall that contains a fire bar with stainless steel spill edges and flower pots. The spa seats 8 people comfortably, is raised 18" and has rolled glass tile with spill edges that match the pool spill edges. There is a nice cozy seating area around the sunken fireplace made for cushions and comfort. Right next to it is space for a table and chairs. Artificial grass was used to give a really lush feel to the project along with low maintence. The PebbleSheen color is Aqua Blue. We used Austin stone and Leuder's limestone (bullnozed on the chair backings and spa). The bar area has a overhang for the barstools. The large tanning ledge centers on the main door. On the far side away from the fireplace is a really cool bed swing area inspired by the owners' trip to the Carribean. It's a queen size mattress hanging from the cedar arbor that has an acrylic panel to keep the rain out. Curtains are for privacy & to help keep the sun out when wanted. Lauren Shadid Architecture + InteriorsNew pool, jacuzzi, fire pit, stairs and retaining walls were created where there was previously an 8 foot high hill in the owner's yard. The site was excavated and terraced to create this tranquil exterior with multiple functions.

EP Architects LtdEP Architects, were appointed to carry out the design work for a new indoor pool and gym building. This was the fourth phase of works to transform a 1960’s bungalow into a contemporary dwelling.
The first phase comprised internal modifications to create a new kitchen dining area and to open up the lounge area. The front entrance was also moved to the south side of the property.
The second phase added a, modern glass and zinc, first floor extension which contains a master bedroom suite and office space with a balcony looking out over the extensive gardens. The large ‘pod’ extension incorporated high levels of insulation for improved thermal performance and a green roof to further save energy and encourage biodiversity.
The indoor pool complex includes a gym area and is set down into the sloping garden thus reducing the impact of the building when viewed from the terrace. The materials used in the construction of this phase matched those of previous phases including a green roof.
EPA worked closely with XL Pools to incorporate their one piece module which was brought onto site and craned into position.
The southern aspect of the pool building is exploited with glass sliding doors which open the whole space up to the garden creating wonderful place to relax or play.

This swimming pool in Winnetka, IL measures 10'0" x 18'0", and is the perfect plunge pool. The Hot tub is raised above the pool level, and measures 7'0" square. a 4'0" x 10'0" sunshelf, Jerusalem Stardust Pool and Hot Tub coping, glass tile, volleyball and basketball as well as automatic pool covers for both pool and spa. The deck is a Smooth Finished Concrete with a Rock Salt Finish and Cantilever Coping
Project also had a 3 ft retaining wall built to combat slope and keep whole yard as useable space. All Pentair equipment used and a Color Changing LED Light is in the pool as well.
CAVINESS LANDSCAPE DESIGN, INC.Massive faux rock grotto with multiple waterfalls that lead you into a swim-up bar inside the grotto. A dry entrance on the side of the grotto leads to the kitchen and restroom area, as well as to a private outdoor shower on the other side, accessible from the pool by swimming under a hidden entrance.
The grotto kitchen includes a wine refrigerator, outdoor refrigerator, outdoor dishwasher, a farmhouse apron sink and custom distressed doors for the entry.
The grotto restroom includes a custom faux rock sink base with copper bowl and faucet.

Platinum PoolcareThis sleek rectilinear pool measures 10'0" x 27'0", and the hot tub is 10'0" x 6'0". The coping is Valders Wisconsin Limestone. Both the pool and hot tub have their own automatic pool safety covers with custom stone lid systems.
A large top step serves as a sunshelf for the pool-width steps. Adorned by lush turf on several sides, the hardscapes consist of New York Bluestone. Photos by Larry Huene.
