To create a colonial outdoor living space, we gut renovated this patio, incorporating heated bluestones, a custom traditional fireplace and bespoke furniture. The space was divided into three distinct zones for cooking, dining, and lounging. Firing up the built-in gas grill or a relaxing by the fireplace, this space brings the inside out.

A brick artisan was hired to match the ornate pattern of the original house. We reused as much as we could from the demolition and filled in with reclaimed bricks of a similar age.

The patio is accessible by either a glass French door off the master bedroom or a single glass door off the home office. To end the day, a recessed hot tub with a surround sound system, LED lighting, and
a soothing waterfall tops off the atmosphere and feel of the design.

Saltillo tile with Talavera tile insets. above ground koi pond veneered w/quartzite ledger stone. Homeowners did all of the work themselves. Succulents and bamboo flank the pond.

Bathed in mid-day sun and nestled between the historic garage (right) and the children's rooms (left) this courtyard of stone and decomposed granite serves as a perfect lunch spot and outdoor play area.

This patio uses a Unilock paver that can be made permeable. This patio is not permeable because it was not built on crushed stone.
