When we first surveyed the site, we saw staff bicycles strewn around the space, mostly in hard to see places to avoid theft. As a result, we integrated a protected and hidden sturdy bicycle storage area in the space, keeping bikes safe and organized. The opposite side of this redwood sawn partition, we re-purposed an old bench from the site and integrated into the new design.

The goal of this landscape design and build project was to create a backyard patio that incorporated brick pavers and irregular bluestone. The patio also features a hidden hatch that reveals the septic tank beneath. Irregular and oversized bluestone pavers set in the lawn link the side yard to the rear hot tub area. A traditional New England landscape palette was selected to bloom year round and provide color throughout the seasons. Designed and built by Skyline Landscapes, LLC.

Located in Glendale’s historic Rossmoyne district, this property features an Italian Revival home on a compact lot. The owners have lovingly restored the exterior, and we created a garden that feels both fresh and timeless. The design maximizes the site with a sparkling pool and a series of spaces for entertaining, relaxing and play. Generous custom tile work, a new pergola and gates, and iron lights and railings all elevate the design and extend the graciousness of the home’s interior into the new outdoor spaces. A new paver entry with red wood "bridge" to go over the dry river bed that captures rain water. Differing sizes of cobble provide interest for the different areas of the landscape. A low stucco wall divides the front yard into a public and private space.

Napa, CA residence, adjacent to a steep rock hillside. My design solutions included a contemporary redwood horizontal fence to help screen the view of the hillside along with arbors for vines that help to break up the long narrow space. I designed a triangular-shaped pergola with decorative panels from "Parasoleil" that serves as an artful focal point while providing interesting shade patterns that casts its delightful shadow along fence and patio and bench below, changing its position as the sun moves throughout the day. The landscape design includes angular planting beds, concrete pavers surrounded by gravel and a small lower-water lawn for the family to enjoy. The photos show the just planted low-water plants, vines and olive trees and again after a couple of months. Drawings, Design and Photos © Eileen Kelly, Dig Your Garden Landscape Design
