Metropolis Drafting and Construction IncCreation of a new master bathroom, kids’ bathroom, toilet room and a WIC from a mid. size bathroom was a challenge but the results were amazing.
The master bathroom has a huge 5.5'x6' shower with his/hers shower heads.
The main wall of the shower is made from 2 book matched porcelain slabs, the rest of the walls are made from Thasos marble tile and the floors are slate stone.
The vanity is a double sink custom made with distress wood stain finish and its almost 10' long.
The vanity countertop and backsplash are made from the same porcelain slab that was used on the shower wall.
The two pocket doors on the opposite wall from the vanity hide the WIC and the water closet where a $6k toilet/bidet unit is warmed up and ready for her owner at any given moment.
Notice also the huge 100" mirror with built-in LED light, it is a great tool to make the relatively narrow bathroom to look twice its size.

The house was brought down to its studs, new foundations poured, and many walls and rooms relocated and resized. Cathie Hong InteriorsThis 1956 John Calder Mackay home had been poorly renovated in years past. We kept the 1400 sqft footprint of the home, but re-oriented and re-imagined the bland white kitchen to a midcentury olive green kitchen that opened up the sight lines to the wall of glass facing the rear yard. We chose materials that felt authentic and appropriate for the house: handmade glazed ceramics, bricks inspired by the California coast, natural white oaks heavy in grain, and honed marbles in complementary hues to the earth tones we peppered throughout the hard and soft finishes. This project was featured in the Wall Street Journal in April 2022.
Bayside Home ImprovementA meticulously remodeled bathroom that merges classic charm with modern functionality. The space is defined by a serene, seafoam green subway tile shower surround, punctuated by a strip of intricately patterned accent tiles that infuse a pop of color and personality. The shower area is encased in a frameless glass door, enhancing the open feel of the room. Contrasting the cool tones, the terracotta hexagonal floor tiles bring a warm, earthy essence to the bathroom, harmonizing with the natural light that filters through the textured window shade. A traditional white vanity with ample storage space complements the overall aesthetic, offering a balance between vintage and contemporary elements.
Breathe Design StudioOur Austin studio decided to go bold with this project by ensuring that each space had a unique identity in the Mid-Century Modern style bathroom, butler's pantry, and mudroom. We covered the bathroom walls and flooring with stylish beige and yellow tile that was cleverly installed to look like two different patterns. The mint cabinet and pink vanity reflect the mid-century color palette. The stylish knobs and fittings add an extra splash of fun to the bathroom.
The butler's pantry is located right behind the kitchen and serves multiple functions like storage, a study area, and a bar. We went with a moody blue color for the cabinets and included a raw wood open shelf to give depth and warmth to the space. We went with some gorgeous artistic tiles that create a bold, intriguing look in the space.
In the mudroom, we used siding materials to create a shiplap effect to create warmth and texture – a homage to the classic Mid-Century Modern design. We used the same blue from the butler's pantry to create a cohesive effect. The large mint cabinets add a lighter touch to the space.
