We upgraded this 1950s home in the lovely neighborhood of Sherman Oaks. We fully remodeled the kitchen, two bathrooms, a dining room, and bedroom. We installed new vinyl wood flooring, painted the entire home, finished the exposed beams with dark glossy finished. The home has a cool modern farmhouse style throughout the house.

Between the kitchen and dining room there was a wall and we removed it immediately and updated the cabinets, finishes and appliances. To warm what could be a stark white lacquer kitchen, we added terracotta tiles and different wood tones.

This kitchen was redesigned with the houses style and homeowners taste in mind. The sleek cabinets pair well with the walnut island and shelves and the brass accents give it that modern feel. Photos by Chris Veith.

Because of the 2 windows and a door, we couldn’t put cabinets there without it looking weird. The homeowners needed storage but didn’t want to lose light, so we came up with this open shelving plan. Also, adding historic elements like the antique gold lights over the windows and the subway tile paid just the right homage to the home.
