A great example of how a compact backyard can be turned into a beautiful outdoor haven. With a creative approach, this small space now boasts all the main features on the client's wish list: pergola, gas fire pit, water feature and covered patio area.
The square, horizontal/vertical layout gives a modern feel, which is merges with its wooded surroundings thanks to a combination of wood, brick, stone and slate. The height of the pergola frames the landscape and creates a cosy atmosphere under the surrounding tall trees.

Little Miracles Designs
In a suburb less than 3 miles from Manhattan an old house underwent a major facelift. I had a good fortune of being invited to participate on the garden design and installation.
In the front a simple corten steel frame lifts an arrangement of Carex Pensilvanica, that will mature into a lawn that will not need mowing. Playful clusters of Boxwoods add structure and winter interest.

this project began with an dilapidated site with no landscape. The large front yard was unusable for this family with 2 young boys. the inspiration was to create a clean modern space but with ample room for the children to have practical outdoor play areas. the anchor of the project was to use a large 2 ton rock, already purchased by the owner, and create a center piece. the rock was converted into a water feature and the space was developed into a meditative seating pit wrapped in corten steel. the remaining areas were developed as retaining / seat walls bordering the open lawn play areas. modern railings & fence were designed to wrap the upper patio and perimeter fence. landscape lighting provide enough light for safety and mood.

Close up look at the stone curbing around the front garden. The stone curbing provides an edge which is easy to maintain with the grass and provides a containment for the mulch in the garden as well.

Little Landscapes
This amazing backyard space was created by leveling the yard to make the area usable and pleasing to the eye. A modern colour palette of subtle greys creates a cohesive look to the space. Side gardens and custom designed lighting add the final touches and bring it all together.

Renovating an oddly-shaped yard, giving it functionality and a new aesthetic. We built a BBQ area with a tiled patio and blue concrete caps, a walkway with hexagonal pavers, and a planter pot as a focal point. We also added a fireplace area with a custom-made metal fire pit.

A private garden designed, with minimal maintenance in mind, for a newly converted flat in Ealing. It has a long taxus hedge to provide year-round interest viewable from the property as well as to act as a backdrop to a Prunus ‘Accolade’ when it is in flower and leaf. This cherry tree is positioned centrally opposite a cantilevered glass box extruding from the facade of the building.
