A two-bed, two-bath condo located in the Historic Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, DC was reimagined with the clean lined sensibilities and celebration of beautiful materials found in Mid-Century Modern designs. A soothing gray-green color palette sets the backdrop for cherry cabinetry and white oak floors. Specialty lighting, handmade tile, and a slate clad corner fireplace further elevate the space. A new Trex deck with cable railing system connects the home to the outdoors.

Renovation of a 2 bedroom flat in Hackney - Pete & Miky

This stunning black ply kitchen with grey-finished ply worktop was such a gorgeous, modern addition to the open living area, being a bold but beautiful touch. New appliances were fitted throughout the kitchen, including a sleek induction hob. Open ply finish units and covered storage underneath works beautifully with the black of the other cabinetry, adding small storage space and a space to display treasured books and ornaments. The dining and living areas are visible from the kitchen, with the beautiful plants, wall art and pendant light working beautifully with the kitchen finishes. The reclaimed parquet wood flooring blocks were fitted in a herringbone design, adding a stunning warm touch to the space and replacing the previous lack of flooring in this area, exposed concrete being a reminder of the extension fitted some time ago. Dulux's Brilliant White paint was used to coat the walls and ceiling, being a lovely fresh backdrop for the various furnishings, wall art and plants to be styled in the living area. This stunning home is a combination of the best of traditional styling with clean and modern design, creating a look that will be as fresh tomorrow as it is today. Traditional white painted cabinetry in the kitchen, combined with the slab backsplash, a simpler door style and crown moldings with straight lines add a sleek, non-fussy style. An architectural hood with polished brass accents and stainless steel appliances dress up this painted kitchen for upscale, contemporary appeal. The kitchen islands offers a notable color contrast with their rich, dark, gray finish. The stunning bar area is the entertaining hub of the home. The second bar allows the homeowners an area for their guests to hang out and keeps them out of the main work zone. The family room used to be shut off from the kitchen. Opening up the wall between the two rooms allows for the function of modern living. The room was full of built ins that were removed to give the clean esthetic the homeowners wanted. It was a joy to redesign the fireplace to give it the contemporary feel they longed for. Their used to be a large angled wall in the kitchen (the wall the double oven and refrigerator are on) by straightening that out, the homeowners gained better function in the kitchen as well as allowing for the first floor laundry to now double as a much needed mudroom room as well.

Designed and Executed by Juro Design, this kitchen was completely re-imagined to create a timeless space that builds appeal and interest through layered decor elements. The final result exceeded our clients' expectations and has become a design focal point. Materials used: Laminex Absolute Matte Black cabinets, paired with concrete benchtops and finished off with custom solid blackbutt timber handles and feature details. The door to the pantry forms part of the cabinetry concealing it from view. We also have a custom made sliding access panel incorporated into the splashback with the benchtop following through proving functional easy access to the pantry.

For starters, you want to find a balance between aesthetics and function. You may have heard of the ‘kitchen work triangle’, which refers to the space between your fridge, sink and stove. You want everything within easy reach when you’re working in the kitchen and look beautiful at the same time. It’s a good idea to take note of both when browsing our photo gallery.

3. Decide on a Kitchen Style, But Don’t Forget Practicality

You want the style of your kitchen to reflect your personality and taste.
