The main goals of this project was to make it more usable and enjoyable for the owner, to reduce maintenance and to created a covered area for enjoyment year-round. This design also kept the family's new puppy in mind - fencing it in for safety and planting with careful consideration of plants that are safe for dogs. The winding pathway for humans is reminiscent of a stream bed and there is also a narrow perimeter fence specifically for the pup!

This front garden echoes the classic lines and Mediterranean feel of the home’s architecture. A thirsty lawn was replaced with vibrant aloes, agaves, and low water shrubs. An area of decomposed granite doubles as an informal play court.

A great example of how a compact backyard can be turned into a beautiful outdoor haven. With a creative approach, this small space now boasts all the main features on the client's wish list: pergola, gas fire pit, water feature and covered patio area.
The square, horizontal/vertical layout gives a modern feel, which is merges with its wooded surroundings thanks to a combination of wood, brick, stone and slate. The height of the pergola frames the landscape and creates a cosy atmosphere under the surrounding tall trees.

This is a good example of fine stone work. Notice the tight, overlapping joints. The boulder is integrated into the wall and anchors the corner. A sea of plumbago adorns the raised bed. The driveway circle pavers are Porphyry, which is a very hard, granite-like stone that works great for driveways because of its sturdiness.
