Like most homes that were built as part of a development project in Thousand oaks the kitchen in this home was extremely small and enclosed from all sides with only 2 small pathways leading to it. The first think on the list was to remove the largest wall and opening the space to the living area. The kitchen is comprised from an L-shape gray cabinets and a 11' long peninsula from pewter colored cabinet and a fantastic black noir countertop. The peninsula acts as a division between the living area and the kitchen. a large window brings a lot of natural light into the space and the light pastel almost colored backsplash adds a light and bright contrast to the grays and black colors of the kitchen. The large dark cabinet pulls tie together the two portions of the kitchen.

Always look where to gain space in a kitchen. The owner wanted a 36" cooktop so we stole the needed 6 inches from the oversized doorway on the same wall. Photos by Stockwell Media

This amazing house is self-sustaining and stylish! Using a different color for your island can add interest to your space and make the island feel like a free-standing piece of furniture. In this kitchen, designed and installed by Allen's Fine Woodworking, we used Medallion Cabinetry. The main cabinets are maple in Mission door style with White Icing paint. The island is maple in Park Place door style with Sangria stain. Photos by Zach Luellen Photography, LLC

This craftsman style kitchen design is the perfect combination of form and function. With a custom designed hutch and eat-in kitchen island featuring a CraftArt wood tabletop, the kitchen is the perfect place for family and friends to gather. The wood tone of the Medallion cabinetry contrasts beautifully with the dark Cambria quartz countertop and slate backsplash, but it is the excellent storage accessories inside these cabinets that really set this design apart. From tray dividers to magic corner pull-outs, this kitchen keeps clutter at bay and lets the design shine through.
