This backyard is what Kids and Parents dream about! The yard was large, over grown, and lacked a clear definition of what the space was for. With two young, energetic girls, who love to explore, the owner wanted to keep it as natural as possible, but add several new elements. A fireplace was added to the patio area which created indoor-outdoor living. A small outdoor kitchen was added for entertaining. A large pool with Baja shelf , a Jacuzzi, and seats through out create an oasis as the focal point. The bike paths were defined by gravel. We removed two enormous trees and used them to mulch the entire yard. The trunks were used as a fun obstacle course. A shady area was kept for the tire swing and picnic area. And the finishing touch; handprints in the new sidewalk!
Native Edge Landscape
After their brand new construction was completed, this family had a beautiful and comfortable home that truly fit their needs. However, this new construction lacked an outdoor living space, which left the backyard feeling stark and bare. With this blank slate, we were able to create a relaxing environment for this family to enjoy.
Faced with the challenge of using every square-inch of this small space, Native Edge was able to design a landscape that left this family worry-free. We incorporated a low maintenance composite decking system, modern raised metal planters, and a bubbling urn water feature to tie this peaceful landscape together. The poor drainage of the lot gave us the opportunity to create a striking cat walk and drainage feature, which left ample room for their vegetable and herb garden hobby. There is even a nook for the family dog to enjoy!

Yorkshire Gardens
Here’s another project recently finished by our landscaping team. Although this is a fairly small back garden we have created a visually exciting space with numerous areas of interest.
A modest stone patio provides a good sized area for seating or dining. We used a variety of natural stone slabs in various sizes and colours in order to add texture and really brighten the space. Not only does stone look great in gardens, but this natural material is also extremely durable and long lasting.
Flower beds have been used to edge the garden and are filled with a Ox-eye daisies, Yarrows and small shrubs to create a colourful surround. Potted plants are lined along the patio and add some greenery to the slatted fence.
An asymetric deck leads your eye across the garden with a small pond nestles neatly below. Surrounded by natural stone and beautiful foliage this gives the garden a rustic look. The grey eco deck contrasts with natural materials helping to add a real contemporary edge.
Finally the garden is finished with steps leading down to the circular lawn. This garden may be small but it’s definitely packed with plenty of character.
