The Wethersfield home is a “Contributing Structure” within one of Central Austin’s most historic neighborhoods. Thanks to the design vision and engineering of the Barley|Pfeiffer Architecture team, the fine execution and contributions of Tommy Hudson with Hudson Custom Builder, and the commitment of the Owner, the outcome is a very comfortable, healthy and nicely day lit, 1600 square foot home that is expected to have energy consumption bills 50% less than those before, despite being almost 190 square feet larger. A new kitchen was designed for better function and efficiencies. A screened-in porch makes for great outdoor living within a semi-private setting - and without the bugs! New interior fixtures, fittings and finishes were chosen to honor the home’s original 1930’s character while providing tasteful aesthetic upgrades. Photo: Oren Mitzner, AIA NCARB

The large veranda connects to the garage via a covered walkway. Beautiful eggshell pillars and moulding frame the huge sliding patio doors that cover the entire back wall of the home. Ideally situated in Southpark, the Bridge is a scenic gated community consisting of seven custom homesites, each with its own distinctive character. Build a completely custom home or purchase an existing home designed by our award-winning team. In either case, every Chelsea home is constructed to the highest standards and will meet the exacting Diamond level of Environments for Living. Credit: Julie Legge

The outdoor kitchen of this backyard retreat has all the elegance (and space!) needed for the family who commissioned this Mediterranean-style home. We love the travertine and latticework of the flooring and the lit water features plus the built-in tv nook.

The stone veneer fireplace, framed with full masonry block, with reclaimed Hemlock mantle as the centerpiece attraction and the stained pine tongue and groove vaulted ceiling gives the space a dramatic look. The columns have a stacked stone base that complements the stone on the fireplace and kitchen fascia. The light travertine flooring is a perfect balance for the dark stone on the column bases and knee walls beside the fireplace as well as the darker stained cedar beams and stones in the fireplace. THE UP STUDIOTHE UP STUDIO
Free Float is a pool house that continues UP's obsession with contextual contradiction. Located on a three acre estate in Sands Point NY, the modern pool house is juxtaposed against the existing traditional home. Using structural gymnastics, a column-free, simple shading area was created to protect occupants from the summer sun while still allowing the structure to feel light and open, maintaining views of the Long Island Sound and surrounding beaches.
