This planter had previously been several feet lower and was raised to help create an edge to the new stairs and deck. Planted with Heavenly Bamboo and a trailing succulent type plant, it adds another level of privacy to the garden.
Karl Harrison Landscapes Ltd
On this project our clients knew when they first moved in that the decking looked a little ropy. They took a step out onto the decking to have their foot go straight through it. Ouch… They searched online for advice and found Karl through The Decking Network. Karl visited to carry out a site survey and understand what the client needed. From here he was able to promptly put a quotation together.
Once the quotation was agreed this project start to finish took 5 days to remove the old decking, install the new decking and install the custom Accoya ® balustrade. We used recycled plastic posts too, this deck won’t be going anywhere for a long time. The Millboard decking also has a 25-year warranty because it’s installed by an approved installer.

This compact, urban backyard was in desperate need of privacy. We created a series of outdoor rooms, privacy screens, and lush plantings all with an Asian-inspired design sense. Elements include a covered outdoor lounge room, sun decks, rock gardens, shade garden, evergreen plant screens, and raised boardwalk to connect the various outdoor spaces. The finished space feels like a true backyard oasis.
Rogan Nash Architects Ltd
This thoughtfully renovated 1920’s character home by Rogan Nash Architects in Auckland’s Westmere makes the most of its site. The homeowners are very social and many of their events centre around cooking and entertaining. The new spaces were created to be where friends and family could meet to chat while pasta was being cooked or to sit and have a glass of wine while dinner is prepared. The adjacent outdoor kitchen furthers this entertainers delight allowing more opportunity for social events. The space and the aesthetic directly reflect the clients love for family and cooking.
Vogue & Vine - Landscape Designers Sydney
We created this enchanting tropical oasis for our Rose Bay client. They wanted to create a welcoming feeling for their family and guests with a touch of Balinese tropical design.
We achieved this by building a beautiful curved timber path and surrounding it by lush tropical plants punctuated by some stone sculptures.

a raised deck was added so that a new corner spa could be nestled into the garden and be seat height, eliminating the need for steps up to a tall hot tub. A removable section of the deck allows access to the mechanical panel in the spa. A cut-corner spa was selected to allow more circulation around the spa. Custom lattice panels with a narrow trellis top complete the spa experience and provide privacy from adjacent houses in this tiny urban garden.
Hush House
This project combines three main strengths of Smash Design Build: architecture, landscape, and craftsmanship in concise and composed spaces. Lush planting in modern, rusting steel planters surround wooden decks, which feature a Japanese soaking tub.

Infinity Pools of Texas
This pool features some beautiful stonework and real boulders. Our craftsmen laid them out to look natural and create multiple waterfalls. The spa is covered in stacked stone and spills in to the pool. Plus the whole pool is surrounded by beautiful travertine stone.
