The rear elevation was extended to offer them more space in their living area to incorporate a wine cellar, larger laundry/WC and much wanted larger master bedroom and en-suite. With quality craftsmanship and execution, the clients cannot even remember what to old property looked like.

Custom made wine cellar for my Dad. I transformed a seldom used sauna room into this beautiful work of art. I had to quote it through several companies because it was very expensive. In the end we hired this craftsman that used melina (a type of cultivated wood) that is very affordable. By staining the wood we achieved this luxury feel. We were able to do the cornices and even the carved column with that type of wood which is made of small slats joined together. The perfect finishing touch was a custom made oil painting of a vineyard to be admired when opening a bottle in the granite countertop.

A fun little bar! But of course it comes complete with a Pool table!

The prolific vintner Jean-Charles Boisset owns several wineries throughout the world; about half a dozen of them in the Napa and Sonoma counties. His unique style and attention to detail have made his wineries and tasting rooms some of the most frequented in California’s wine country. Architectural Plastics has worked with Boisset to design and create bespoke pieces for several of his Northern California locations. This ongoing partnership has been a personal favorite of the Architectural Plastics design and fabrication team. These acrylic tasting tables are made using thick gauges of clear acrylic, polished and glued together. The tops are hollow and secret openings allow them to be stuffed with gold foil and jewelry for the visitors to enjoy.

This depends on the size of your collection – or how big you hope it becomes. If you enjoy quaffing, you may want to invest in a walk-in cooler with wall-mounted wine racks and several tall wine fridges, as well as a tasting area with bar stools. If you’re a beginner or have a small collection, a home bar with mini fridge and wine rack will suffice. Essential bar accessories include wine glasses, corkscrews, carafes and aerators.

How should I store my wine?

Temperature control is at the core of a functional wine cellar. Your bottles need to be kept out of direct sunlight, and away from the heat and steam of kitchen appliances. A room that is too warm will make your wine age faster, oxidise and lose its character and flavour. If bottles are corked, they also need to be laid down. Should you have minimal floor space, a small one could even sit comfortably on your countertop. If quaffing requires an occasion or you frequently host dinner parties, consider your dining room, so you can top up people’s glasses without having to leave the room. You could also make your bar fridge or cooler a destination within your entertainment or games room. There’s no denying that Aussies love to entertain and enjoy a glass or two outdoors, so if you’re lucky enough to have a covered outdoor area, this could be just the place for a cooler, too. Just ensure it doesn’t experience any extreme weather or long periods of direct sunlight.
