A contemporary home design for clients that featured south-facing balconies maximising the sea views, whilst also creating a blend of outdoor and indoor rooms. The spacious and light interior incorporates a central staircase with floating stairs and glazed balustrades. Revealed wood beams against the white contemporary interior, along with the wood burner, add traditional touches to the home, juxtaposing the old and the new. Photographs: Alison White

The total renovation, working with Llama Projects, the construction division of the Llama Group, of this once very dated top floor apartment in the heart of the old city of Shrewsbury. With all new electrics, fireplace, built in cabinetry, flooring and interior design & style. Our clients wanted a stylish, contemporary interior through out replacing the dated, old fashioned interior. The old fashioned electric fireplace was replaced with a modern electric fire and all new built in cabinetry was built into the property. Showcasing the lounge interior, with stylish Italian design furniture, available through our design studio. New wooden flooring throughout, John Cullen Lighting, contemporary built in cabinetry. Creating a wonderful weekend luxury pad for our Hong Kong based clients. All furniture, lighting, flooring and accessories are available through Janey Butler Interiors.

The idea for Scandinavian Hardwoods came after years of countless conversations with homeowners, designers, architects, and builders. The consistent theme: they wanted more than just a beautiful floor. They wanted insight into manufacturing locations (not just the seller or importer) and what materials are used and why. They wanted to understand the product’s environmental impact and it’s effect on indoor air quality and human health. They wanted a compelling story to tell guests about the beautiful floor they’ve chosen. At Scandinavian Hardwoods, we bring all of these elements together while making luxury more accessible. This 90's home received a complete transformation. A renovation on a tight timeframe meant we used our designer tricks to create a home that looks and feels completely different while keeping construction to a bare minimum. This beautiful Dulux 'Currency Creek' kitchen was custom made to fit the original kitchen layout. Opening the space up by adding glass steel framed doors and a double sided Mt Blanc fireplace allowed natural light to flood through.

This is a corner of the sitting room in our Notting Hill project. Cosy natural textures help create a calm, Scandinavian feel. Leather, cotton, wood floors, sheepskin cushions, house plants, succulents. I love to work with nature as much as possible in my designs.
