On a corner lot in the sought after Preston Hollow area of Dallas, this 4,500sf modern home was designed to connect the indoors to the outdoors while maintaining privacy. Stacked stone, stucco and shiplap mahogany siding adorn the exterior, while a cool neutral palette blends seamlessly to multiple outdoor gardens and patios.

Resting upon a 120-acre rural hillside, this 17,500 square-foot residence has unencumbered mountain views to the east, south and west. The exterior design palette for the public side is a more formal Tudor style of architecture, including intricate brick detailing; while the materials for the private side tend toward a more casual mountain-home style of architecture with a natural stone base and hand-cut wood siding. Primary living spaces and the master bedroom suite, are located on the main level, with guest accommodations on the upper floor of the main house and upper floor of the garage. The interior material palette was carefully chosen to match the stunning collection of antique furniture and artifacts, gathered from around the country. We refurbished this dining room, replacing the old 1930's tiled fireplace surround with this rather beautiful sandstone bolection fire surround. The challenge in the room was working with the existing pieces that the client wished to keep such as the rustic oak china cabinet in the fireplace alcove and the matching nest of tables and making it work with the newer pieces specified for the sapce.

The windows in the dining room in the old part of the house were lengthened to increased natural light. Eventually they'll provide views of the vine-covered side fence. The owners' collection of mid-century furniture, antique light fittings and contemporary art give the space a warm, eclectic character.
