Huge re-model including taking ceiling from a flat ceiling to a complete transformation. Bamboo custom cabinetry was given a grey stain, mixed with walnut strip on the bar and the island given a different stain. Huge amounts of storage from deep pan corner drawers, roll out trash, coffee station, built in refrigerator, wine and alcohol storage, appliance garage, pantry and appliance storage, the amounts go on and on. Floating shelves with a back that just grabs the eye takes this kitchen to another level. The clients are thrilled with this huge difference from their original space.

The existing metal windows were stripped of old paint and new glazing and hardware was installed to not detract from the home’s historical character. The sink is centered on the kitchen’s windows and we decide to keep it in this location. The new countertops are Caesarstone Wild Rice with a backsplash of Walker Zanger slate mosaic in a range of neutral shades. A custom frame of Caesarstone completes the backsplash design. The backsplash tile design is not broken up with outlets; this function is achieved with Legrand outlet track system, mounted above the back splash.

A tiny kitchen with tons of style, the owner's vintage plates are displayed on the reclaimed shelving. A dynamic crystaline countertop brings a little drama to the small space. Hand glazed Fireclay Tile glimmers on the wall, and blackened cork flooring manages noise and feels soft underfoot.

This kitchen area, despite it's very large size, feels very warm and welcoming. The custom backsplash consists of handmade tiles in the shape of leaves and has an amazing effect from every angle in the room. This kitchen also successfully incorporates several distinct areas (Breakfast area, office desk, mud room) in a very homogenous and natural way. Easier said than done!

The Cabinets AFTER:To mimic the glass-front cabinets I loved so much, Megan suggested a simple change: Remove the doors on the upper cabinets and fill them with new, simple glassware. With the cabinets’ interiors painted and the glassware in place, I sometimes forget that I don’t actually have the custom glass cabinetry.
