Client Needs
A young family who needs more countertop space, smart cabinet storage and overall a better design for the large footprint. The kitchen lacked over-flow storage, pantry and unique style.
Project Goal
To create a functional and stylish design with high-end yet affordable materials. Including lots more countertop area, open shelves, cabinet storage, built-in pantry, and over-flow utility closet. Design elements include quartz countertops and handmade rustic Spanish ceramic tile.

Light and bright kitchen accomplished by adding oversized skylight and opening ceiling. Light wood cabinetry, large oversized subway tiles and professional appliances are contrasted by dark stained oak floors.

We wanted a kitchen that had the flavor of old Mexico and the convenience of modern American-made cabinetry. Natural maple doors paired with red-stained trim give the design its foundation. Next we added a yellow tile splash with a colorful decorative liner and brick red grout. We then completed the look with green Corian counters, black appliances, and southwestern accessories.

This kitchen is a perfect mix of vintage & modern. Homeowners, Arthur and Karen M, already had the vintage stove and they wanted “to modernize the kitchen without making the stove look completely out of place.” Karen thought the farm sink and reclaimed wood shelves would help. She knew she wanted grey granite counters with white cabinetry and an additional oven since the one in the vintage stove is tiny. Our designer took this kitchen from dark and dated to new and bright, showcasing the beauty of the vintage piece.

By eliminating a soffit, bringing the cabinets to the ceiling and using glass cabinetry, we were able to make this petite galley kitchen much more open an airy while taking advantage of every inch of space!
