The Art of Landscape
Close up view of rugged stone slab steps that are fitted gracefully into the stone veneered wall and lead down to the lowest terrace that looks out over the river gorge below. These steps are carfeully integrated with the boulders to give the effect of these being carved right out of the natural bedrock. They look rugged but they are smooth even surfaces, set at an easy, walking cadence so going from the top to the bottom of the whole terrace system is a very easy and comfortable barefoot stroll.

Impressions Landscape - Design
A once overgrown mess of vegetation and unusable space, this project was more of a garden renovation than a complete landscape project. Choosing to work with a more traditional rustic charm theme. Built in a fashion that promoted an aged appeal as though the garden had been in place for years.
Twisted Rock Terrascape & Design, Inc.
Our clients hired us to create a landscape for their new acreage that stays true to the native setting. We utilized natural rock, large southern Alberta native trees and plantings, with rock slabs for steps down the walkout sides of the home. The new asphalt driveway will be going in now that the landscaping is complete.

Thick Tennessee Crab Orchard Stone slabs create the steps. The slabs were snap cut to retain a natural feel. Virginia mined Sandstone blocks pick up the same color range and were used to create stone walls along the stone path.
The garden primarily consists of serpentine swaths of Liriope spicata and Euonymus coloratus. These two plants work well to retain the soil and have kept erosion from being a problem. Additional species were added and nestled in close to the walk for garden interest. Blue sedges, white flowering geranium, dwarf mounding boxwoods and dwarf wintercreeper are visible in this picture. The path leading up to the steps to the patio provides a generous transition to the stroll garden and steps down to the lower level. This shot also gives a good perspective on how the garden works with the house.
The Barn: Landscape + Architecture
A sloping back yard is terraced by creating retaining walls made of eden cut drywall. The steppers in the natural stone walkway are patterned eden flagstone. To amp up the color contrast of white and green we used Limelight Hydrangea on the right and Incrediball Hydrangea on the left.
