This 1980s bathroom was gutted and redesigned to fit with the craftsman aesthetic of the rest of the house. A continuous band of handmade Motawi ginkgo tiles runs the perimeter of the room. The vibrant powder room has floral wallpaper highlighted by crisp white wainscoting. The vanity is a custom-made, furniture grade piece topped with white Carrara marble. Black slate floors complete the room. What started as an addition project turned into a full house remodel in this Modern Craftsman home in Narberth, PA. The addition included the creation of a sitting room, family room, mudroom and third floor. As we moved to the rest of the home, we designed and built a custom staircase to connect the family room to the existing kitchen. We laid red oak flooring with a mahogany inlay throughout house. Another central feature of this is home is all the built-in storage. We used or created every nook for seating and storage throughout the house, as you can see in the family room, dining area, staircase landing, bedroom and bathrooms. Custom wainscoting and trim are everywhere you look, and gives a clean, polished look to this warm house. We gave a fresh, new look to the Powder Room with crisp white painted wainscoting, and lovely gold leaf wallpaper. The Powder Room window was made to let the light in, and designed and built by Jonathan Clarren, master glass artist. Through a series of remodels, the home owners have been able to create a home they truly love. Both baths have traditional white and black tile work with two-toned walls bringing in warmth and character. Demolition of existing bathroom tub/shower, tile walls and fixtures. Complete replacement of drywall and cement backer board. Removal of existing tile floor and floated with a self leveling compound. Replacement of all existing plumbing and electrical rough-in to make ready for new fixtures. Installation of fiberglass shower pan and installation of new water proof vinyl wall tile in shower. Installation of new waterproof laminate flooring, wall wainscot and door trim. Upgraded vanity and toilet, and all new fixtures (shower faucet, sink faucet, light fixtures, towel hooks, etc)

Hex tile floors, new tile shower, frameless glass shower doors, new painted cabinetry, granite countertop and plumbing fixtures really make this small space attractive, functional and is a major improvement over the previous version.

This project was focused on eeking out space for another bathroom for this growing family. The three bedroom, Craftsman bungalow was originally built with only one bathroom, which is typical for the era. The challenge was to find space without compromising the existing storage in the home. It was achieved by claiming the closet areas between two bedrooms, increasing the original 29" depth and expanding into the larger of the two bedrooms. The result was a compact, yet efficient bathroom. Classic finishes are respectful of the vernacular and time period of the home.
