Our homeowner approached us first in order to remodel her master suite. Her shower was leaking and she wanted to turn 2 separate closets into one enviable walk in closet. This homeowners projects have been completed in multiple phases. The second phase was focused on the kitchen, laundry room and converting the dining room to an office. View before and after images of the project here: http://www.houzz.com/discussions/4412085/m=23/dining-room-turned-office-in-los-angeles-ca https://www.houzz.com/discussions/4425079/m=23/laundry-room-refresh-in-la https://www.houzz.com/discussions/4440223/m=23/banquette-driven-kitchen-remodel-in-la We feel fortunate that she has such great taste and furnished her home so well! Dining Room turned Office: There is a white washed oak barn door separating the new office from the living room. The blue accent wall is the perfect backdrop for the mirror. This room features both recessed lighting and a stunning pendant chandelier. It also has both a pocket door and barn door. The view to the backyard was a part of this remodel and makes it a lovely office for the homeowner.

With a window view and everything at her finger tips, it is easy to see why this is Chelsea's favorite room in the house. "It is a place where I am inspired, free to create and that is totally me", she describes. Although she considers this the "mess room", Chelsea has employed a system of organization to make project execution a smooth process. "My solution to clutter is storage, storage, storage - that's where those baskets come in!" By combining shelves and bins with pegboard and hooks, her creativity will never be overshadowed by the need to search for supplies. "We also ensure that everything has a home, and gets back there if it is out." Photo: Adrienne DeRosa Photography © 2014 Houzz

Wendy is a genius at creating specialized storage out of potentially unused space! The rolling island pulls out of the dormer storage area when in use, or tucks back in the dormer for increased floor space when unneeded.

This small third bedroom in a 1950's North Vancouver home originally housed our growing interior design business. When we outgrew this 80 square foot space and moved to a studio across the street, I wondered what would become of this room with its lovely ocean view. As it turns out it evolved into a shared creative space for myself and my very artistic 7 year old daughter. In the spirit of Virginia Wolfe's "A Room of One's Own" this is a creative space where we are surrounded by some of our favourite things including vintage collectibles & furniture, artwork and craft projects, not to mention my all time favourite Cole and Son wallpaper. It is all about pretty and girly with just the right amount of colour. Interior Design by Lori Steeves of Simply Home Decorating Inc. Photos by Tracey Ayton Photography.

A clean, bright space to let your imagination play in. White laminate counter is nearly indestructible. Drawers and baskets corral tools and materials. A very happy place to spend time in.

With the advice of my interior designer friend Nelly Reffet of Twinkle and Whistle, I turned this space into a much nicer and more organised room to work. One of the first things Nelly advised me to do was paint the Antique White walls Vivid White and change the cedar blinds for linen curtains. I could not believe the difference this made in making the room seem brighter and lighter. As I was on a very tight budget for this room, Nelly suggested utilising a piece of furniture I already had in the house - the IKEA Expedit - for storage. Having one large piece of furniture for storage rather than several smaller ones has freed up the space enormously. It also provides loads of storage with its deep shelves. The containers in it are all thrifted, found on the side of the road or from secondhand markets. I used a mix of cane baskets, wooden boxes and an unused draw to hide more unsightly odds and ends and make it overall look much more neat and tidy. The smallest room at the front of the house was allocated for the study and craft space. A traditional radiator was again used in the room, in keeping with other features throughout the home. The room previously featured all 4 walls having a covering of mixed old paint, plaster and wallpaper, with none of these old finishes being removed properly over time, though resulting in a lovely aged finish now. The clients wanted to keep this finish on two walls, so we coated them in a matt lacquer to preserve them, and painted other walls and the ceilings in the Dulux Brilliant white to keep the space fresh, and help the feature walls stand out. Various craft equipment was styled in the space, creating a room that is welcoming, warm and works with the rest of the property.
