Designed for good energy... Our client was looking to create a space for retreat, tranquility, serenity. The existing space was somewhat funky without balance and made it difficult to feel good. Working within an existing courtyard space, we were limited. No matter, our goal was to remedy this outdoor courtyard/sunset balcony space. Our idea was to keep the space cozy but create destination spaces where you can lay down in the grass and look up at the stars. Walk bare foot atop the different hardscape surfaces, reclaimed brick patio & walkway, Silvermist flagstone, terra cotta tiles & tiffway bermuda. The idea of sitting in front of a magical rock island stone fireplace reading a book, sharing conversation with family & friends gives us warm feelings. Bubbling water features dance through out this space creating sounds of trickling brooks you could only hear if you were in a far far away place. The courtyard walls disappear, with plants and trees wrapping there arms around our client while relaxing under a 45 year old ascalone olive tree. A healing garden was the finished product, so much, its a space that you don't ever want to leave....

The prime location property in inner city Auckland was transformed to a beautiful functional space, landscaped gardens and outdoor living and entertaining worthy of its prestigious address. The focal point of the outdoor fire against a tall retaining wall is a great feature to complete the space and create a warm welcoming environment all year around. An outdoor kitchen under the sheltered louvre extends the living outside. The spa is snuck up into an unused space taking advantage of privacy and location. The work included excavation of a rockgarden to make space for parking, a level lawn for the kids to enjoy. We even got a trampoline in a corner otherwise not used. With fantastic garden lighting to show off the whole property to its best.

The garden transforms a a leftover space between a tall house and steep slope on Buena Vista Hill into a landscaped plant-lined gathering space with seating and a small fountain. The existing space consisted of a small patio and series of poorly placed retaining walls. Two curved walls are preserved and reconfigured into a wide amphitheater-like seating area. A set of horizontal steel planters conform to the curve of the long existing wall, drawing the eye across the garden. The matte steel finish provides a muted reflection of greens that is constantly changing the position of the sun. Plants were chosen for their drought-tolerant qualities and variety of colors and shades.

The focal point of the pergola lounge area is the HPC linear flame fire table, clad in Indus Grey flagstone to match the deck. The adjoining eight-person bar table in the matching stone is a popular gathering place for small groups and includes the convenience of an undercounter fridge.
