The distressed green island sits atop brown stained hardwood floors and creates a focal point at the center of this traditional kitchen. Topped with ubatuba granite, the island is home to a Viking cooktop and metal barstools painted ivory with sage green chenille seats. Visual Comfort globe pendants, in a mix of metals, marry the island’s antique brass bin pulls to the pewter hardware of the perimeter cabinetry. Breaking up the cream perimeter cabinets are large windows dressed with woven wood blinds. Walker Zanger glass tiles in blues, greens and tans clad the backsplash, which wraps the kitchen along with honed black granite countertops. Continuing beyond space are the breakfast room, butler’s pantry and dining room.

The raised-panel-door cabinetry includes a valence and several arches. The architectural details make the kitchen unique.

In collaboration with Darcy Tsung Design, we took a small, cramped kitchen and created an open layout for entertaining. The owner is an accomplished chef who wanted a purpose-built kitchen to house all of her specialty items, including pullouts for a Kitchen Aid mixer, a coffee station, and cabinet inserts for knives, spices, and cutting boards. Our traditional, yet still up to date, design was influenced by the owner's antique heirloom dining table and chairs. We seamlessly incorporated that much beloved set of furniture, and gave a prominent place for the owner's colorful artwork.

This dreamy, warm traditional kitchen captures our hearts and eyes with its warm tones and updated style. The client trusted our designer Claire with reconfiguring the layout of her 1990’s kitchen. The back wall was re-designed to center the range for a focal point, the cooktop was moved off of the island and the cabinets were extended to the ceiling. This client wanted to keep the traditional style of the home but update the finishes and materials. The Chantilly Lace finish, frameless cabinets, full height backsplash with warm-colored grout, stunning walnut countertop, and brushed brass hardware and fixtures add warmth but keep the space light and bright.

This is a view of the 15' (fifteen foot) vaulted kitchen ceiling. The beams run straight across, providing the perfect place to hang the hurricane lanterns over the island.
