Timeless and Natural Based on the South Coast Willow Manor combines classic kitchen design with a classy bespoke twist. We worked closely with interior designers Studio Hooton to create an earthy neutral scheme. The deep green and beige tones are complimented by natural fabrics and porcelain marble effect worktops. Our statement walk-in pantry is the perfect storage solution, with an elegant exterior that catches your eye as you enter the space. The fluted glass panels provide an obscured view of the pantry's contents, encouraging guests to explore what's behind the glass door. Separate from the kitchen we designed a bespoke bar area with stained oak cabinetry and natural green marble worktops. The perfect space for entertaining, including an ice maker, sink and ample storage for glasses and drink bottles.

Clients that relocated from NYC fell in love with this home but wanted to update the kitchen to reflect their love of cooking. Using that mandate, the designer maximized both storage and countertops through clever space planning to utilize the existing perimeter to the fullest. The resulting space is a classic white kitchen with soft blue accents in the window treatments and seating. The main marble island was designed to maximize storage and counter surface with the second island done in walnut to match the butler’s pantry. The soft white cabinetry has a custom, brush-stroke finish with unlacquered brass hardware sourced from England. The custom hood and stainless steel backsplash with a warming shelf give the kitchen a professional look and are complemented by the SubZero glass front refrigerator and Wolf range. An upside-down edge detail on the countertops adds surface area, while interior lighting in the display cabinetry highlights dishes and serving pieces. The kitchen shines with unlacquered brass hardware and accents that patinas as it matures, but the crowning glory is the custom pot rack and light fixture by Ann-Morris that illuminates the room.

This homeowner inspired of a French Colonial kitchen & master bath in his expansive new addition. We were able to incorporate his favorite design elements while staying within budget for a truly breathtaking finished product! The kitchen was designed using Starmark Cabinetry's Huntingford Maple door style finished in a tinted varnish color called Macadamia. The hardware used is from Berenson's Opus Collection in Rubbed Bronze.

This contemporary kitchen design makes maximum use of the space to create an open kitchen/dining/entertainment area. This is the perfect place to prepare meals, dine with family, or entertain guests at a party. At the center of the kitchen is a large, T-shaped, multi-level island that creates space for food preparation with a sink and also for dining with ample seating. The island cabinetry has an espresso finish that beautifully offsets the pumice finish on the main cabinetry with glass front upper cabinets. The design is finished off with stainless appliances and hood, glass and metal backsplash, and a striking lighting design. Photos by Susan Hagstrom

Download our free ebook, Creating the Ideal Kitchen. DOWNLOAD NOW The homeowner and his wife had lived in this beautiful townhome in Oak Brook overlooking a small lake for over 13 years. The home is open and airy with vaulted ceilings and full of mementos from world adventures through the years, including to Cambodia, home of their much-adored sponsored daughter. The home, full of love and memories was host to a growing extended family of children and grandchildren. This was THE place. When the homeowner’s wife passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, he became determined to create a space that would continue to welcome and host his family and the many wonderful family memories that lay ahead but with an eye towards functionality. We started out by evaluating how the space would be used. Cooking and watching sports were key factors. So, we shuffled the current dining table into a rarely used living room whereby enlarging the kitchen. The kitchen now houses two large islands – one for prep and the other for seating and buffet space. We removed the wall between kitchen and family room to encourage interaction during family gatherings and of course a clear view to the game on TV. We also removed a dropped ceiling in the kitchen, and wow, what a difference. Next, we added some drama with a large arch between kitchen and dining room creating a stunning architectural feature between those two spaces. This arch echoes the shape of the large arch at the front door of the townhome, providing drama and significance to the space. The kitchen itself is large but does not have much wall space, which is a common challenge when removing walls. We added a bit more by resizing the double French doors to a balcony at the side of the house which is now just a single door. This gave more breathing room to the range wall and large stone hood but still provides access and light. We chose a neutral pallet of black, white, and white oak, with punches of blue at the counter stools in the kitchen. The cabinetry features a white shaker door at the perimeter for a crisp outline. Countertops and custom hood are black Caesarstone, and the islands are a soft white oak adding contrast and warmth. Two large built ins between the kitchen and dining room function as pantry space as well as area to display flowers or seasonal decorations. We repeated the blue in the dining room where we added a fresh coat of paint to the existing built ins, along with painted wainscot paneling. Above the wainscot is a neutral grass cloth wallpaper which provides a lovely backdrop for a wall of important mementos and artifacts. The dining room table and chairs were refinished and re-upholstered, and a new rug and window treatments complete the space. The room now feels ready to host more formal gatherings or can function as a quiet spot to enjoy a cup of morning coffee.

This project complete changed the entire first floor of the home and created a whole new layout for the family to live in. To start the wall into the old dining room was taken down and the kitchen was expanded into that room, windows were taken out and two new French doors were put in to open up onto a deck that connect the kitchen and the new dining room space from the outside. A half wall that separated the former eat-in kitchen area and the old kitchen space was also removed to create the new dining room space. The entire back half of the house has been transformed into an entertainers dream space. In the new kitchen two islands were installed to further help the flow of the space and keep the cooking and prepping area separate from the eating and entertaining space. Light and bright finishes along with a little bit of sparkle from the island lights and iridescent back-splash really finish off the space and make it feel special. Photo Credit: Paper Camera
