This Mod Nursery was designed to inspire joy and creative play in the daylight hours with plenty of soft spaces to encourage quiet coziness in the sleepy time hours. The sunny yellow walls provide a cheerful foundation for etsy artwork in crisp white frames. A bold and bright animal printed fabric was selected for the drapery and blackout lining was added to ensure room darkness when needed. The gunmetal finished open shelves (secured to the wall as a safety measure) house toys, books and baby supplies. The Oeuf crib and portable changing table were the perfect solution for this small space. A sheep skin layered over a chevron area rug adds a dimension of graphic boldness to the room. An electric blue pouf adds a great pop of color and functions as both foot stool and play prop. We at Jennifer Gardner Design have great hope that this room will inspire beautiful childhood memories and the happiest of dreams!

My clients had outgrown their builder’s basic home and had plenty of room to expand on their 10 acres. Working with a local architect and a talented contractor, we designed an addition to create 3 new bedrooms, a bathroom scaled for all 3 girls, a playroom and a master retreat including 3 fireplaces, sauna, steam shower, office or “creative room”, and large bedroom with folding glass wall to capitalize on their view. The master suite, gym, pool and tennis courts are still under construction, but the girls’ suite and living room space are complete and dust free. Each child’s room was designed around their preference of color scheme and each girl has a unique feature that makes their room truly their own. The oldest daughter has a secret passage hidden behind what looks like built in cabinetry. The youngest daughter wanted to “swing”, so we outfitted her with a hanging bed set in front of a custom mural created by a Spanish artist. The middle daughter is an elite gymnast, so we added monkey bars so she can cruise her room in style. The girls’ bathroom suite has 3 identical “stations” with abundant storage. Cabinetry in black walnut and peacock blue and white quartz counters with white marble backsplash are durable and beautiful. Two shower stalls, designed with a colorful and intricate tile design, prevent bathroom wait times and a custom wall mural brings a little of the outdoors in. Designed for a young girl, this funky yellow and plum purple bedroom design is fresh and will last her for many years. The custom headboard, window cornices, and pillows as well as the ghost chair are a few of the details that pull the whole design together. Scientific Chalkboard Wall Mural stands out in this great bedroom, along with your own chalkboard! Lighting up the room is a magnificent Black/silver chandelier. The room is grounded with a white chevron area rug over the engineered wire brushed hardwood flooring.

An out of this world, space-themed boys room in suburban New Jersey. The color palette is navy, black, white, and grey, and with geometric motifs as a nod to science and exploration. The sputnik chandelier in satin nickel is the perfect compliment! This large bedroom offers several areas for our little client to play, including a Scandinavian style / Montessori house-shaped playhouse, a comfortable, upholstered daybed, and a cozy reading nook lined in constellations wallpaper. The navy rug is made of Flor carpet tiles and the round rug is New Zealand wool, both durable options. The navy dresser is custom. Photo Credit: Erin Coren, Curated Nest Interiors

Now client's daughter’s room, this room had been functioning as a second guest bedroom and was ready for a makeover, starting with the wall covering. We were able to keep the existing drapes, and repurpose the giant mirror by painting the frame; thus creating a savings in the budget and enabling the client to choose to indulge in a new high-quality chair, a gorgeous, unique, high-end fabric for the ottoman, by Katie Ridder — and the biggest investment, the custom-designed and hand-built bunk bed by Randall Wilson and Sons. The rose-colored hand-knotted oriental rug, sourced via PAK is another high-quality piece that had originally been purchased for the daughter’s nursery and transitioned easily to her new room. A lot of love and time went into designing that custom bed. Especially the detailed railing, the drawer handles, incorporating the bookshelf into the headboard, and the choosing the contrasting wood for the ladder. The bed will hold its own long into teenage-hood — because sleepovers. Photo credit: Mo Saito
