Michael Habachy designed this luxurious master bathroom for a penthouse in Buckhead. It began as a completely raw space with concrete floors and framing, allowing the designer to tailor every single detail to fit the client’s lifestyle. The client wanted a dramatic and luxurious look, but also functionality. The custom, Neo-classic inspired vanity achieves that by concealing the power for blow dryers and curling irons, and integrating a built-in towel warmer. Materials such as polished Calacutta marble and special cut and beveled diamond shaped mirrors contribute to the luxurious feel. Every feature received a tremendous attention to detail, including the black and white tiled rug with inset stainless steel dots. A rich layering effect was achieved by placing a custom made linear light fixture in front of white sheers, to give the illusion that its droplets of Swarovski crystals were woven into the fabric. In the course of our design work, we completely re-worked the kitchen layout, designed new cabinetry for the kitchen, bathrooms, and living areas. The new great room layout provides a focal point in the fireplace and creates additional seating without moving walls. On the upper floor, we significantly remodeled all the bathrooms. The color palette was simplified and calmed by using a cool palette of grays, blues, and natural textures. Our aesthetic goal for the project was to assemble a warm, casual, family-friendly palette of materials; linen, leather, natural wood and stone, cozy rugs, and vintage textiles. The reclaimed beam as a mantle and subtle grey walls create a strong graphic element which is balanced and echoed by more delicate textile patterns.

We completely gutted and renovated this DC rowhouse and added a three-story rear addition and a roof deck. The second-floor hall bath has a wall-mounted vanity with a mirrored tile wall.

The spectacular Main Powder Room is completely covered in mirrors. Mirrored glass rods are molded together to form the columns— even the vanity is mirrored. The fabrication and assembly was completed by one of our craftsmen from Chicago after a trip to the site to measure and develop a custom design just for this room.

This is one of my favorites. We did a very soft green high wax venetian plaster on the walls and ceiling. In Lou of doing boring cabinets and tiny drawers we did three elongated drawers with plumbing cutouts and gold oversized hardware. Again as my signature move, I took the mirror all the way to the ceiling which makes the powder bath appear to be larger and reflects the beautiful venetian plaster. The mirror mounted faucet in her crowning glory.
