West Chester, PA: Family Room

Kelly came to me with a design dilemma that many of my clients face-- how do you achieve a room that is both family friendly and fashionable? ... mission accomplished!! I created a family friendly space, using kid friendly fabrics that will hold up to two playful little boys, as well as entertaining guests of all ages. Kelly loves bright colors, in fact the adjacent room is painted a beautiful salmon color. To balance out the bright colors next door, I used warmer grey tones with pops of color! This gave the room a sophisticated, yet fun feel. Texture played a huge role in this room. I love to "layer" textures when I am using neutral colors. In this room I used many textures, from woven wood blinds, to leather on the cocktail ottoman, to a interesting textured area rug... all of these components created interest in the room-- something you need to do when using neutrals.
