Great under the stairs space idea for a reading and relaxing bench

For their basement renovation, our clients wanted to update their basement and also dedicate an area for a bar and seating area. They are an active young family that entertains and loves watching movies together so an aesthetically pleasing and comfortable seating area by the bar was essential. In this modern design we decided to go with a soft neutral colour palette that brought more light into the basement. For the cabinets, we wanted to define contrast so we went with a beautiful espresso finish that also complimented the luxury vinyl plank floor.

We built a multi-function wall-to-wall TV/entertainment and home office unit along a long wall in a basement. Our clients had 2 small children and already spent a lot of time in their basement, but needed a modern design solution to house their TV, video games, provide more storage, have a home office workspace, and conceal a protruding foundation wall. We designed a TV niche and open shelving for video game consoles and games, open shelving for displaying decor, overhead and side storage, sliding shelving doors, desk and side storage, open shelving, electrical panel hidden access, power and USB ports, and wall panels to create a flush cabinetry appearance. These custom cabinets were designed by O.NIX Kitchens & Living and manufactured in Italy by Biefbi Cucine in high gloss laminate and dark brown wood laminate.

A food prep area with plenty of counter space and a sink is ideal for fixing and serving simple meals and snacks, while the adjacent theater room is the ideal entertainment space for movie night, the big game, or whatever you love to watch.

This gaming area in the basement doubles as a guest space with custom murphy bed pull downs. When the murphy beds are up they blend into the custom white wainscoting in the space and serve as a "drink shelf" for entertaining.

This basement remodel made the area more efficient and useful to the family. It has a full bar area, guest rooms, a bathroom, laundry, and entrance to outside.

This farmhouse style home was already lovely and inviting. We just added some finishing touches in the kitchen and expanded and enhanced the basement. In the kitchen we enlarged the center island so that it is now five-feet-wide. We rebuilt the sides, added the cross-back, “x”, design to each end and installed new fixtures. We also installed new counters and painted all the cabinetry. Already the center of the home’s everyday living and entertaining, there’s now even more space for gathering. We expanded the already finished basement to include a main room with kitchenet, a multi-purpose/guestroom with a murphy bed, full bathroom, and a home theatre. The COREtec vinyl flooring is waterproof and strong enough to take the beating of everyday use. In the main room, the ship lap walls and farmhouse lantern lighting coordinates beautifully with the vintage farmhouse tuxedo bathroom. Who needs to go out to the movies with a home theatre like this one? With tiered seating for six, featuring reclining chair on platforms, tray ceiling lighting and theatre sconces, this is the perfect spot for family movie night! The clients lower level was in need of a bright and fresh perspective, with a twist of inspiration from a recent stay in Amsterdam. The previous space was dark, cold, somewhat rustic and featured a fireplace that too up way to much of the space. They wanted a new space where their teenagers could hang out with their friends and where family nights could be filled with colorful expression.
