This modern bathroom features farmhouse flare with subway tiles lining the shower from bottom to top and extending along the outside walls. the two circular adjustable mirrors and the chrome features give this bathroom an elegant style and feel.

This quaint little corner lies within the master suite and features a simple gallery wall filled with decor.

They came in with a couple of sets of drawings from different architects that were not quite what they were looking for, so we set out to really listen and try to provide a design that would meet their objectives given what the space could offer. We started by agreeing that a bump out was the best way to go and then decided on the size and the floor plan locations of the mudroom, powder room and butler pantry which were all part of the project. We also planned for an eat-in banquette that is neatly tucked into the corner and surrounded by windows providing a lovely spot for daily meals. The kitchen itself is L-shaped with the refrigerator and range along one wall, and the new sink along the exterior wall with a large window overlooking the backyard. A large island, with seating for five, houses a prep sink and microwave. A new opening space between the kitchen and dining room includes a butler pantry/bar in one section and a large kitchen pantry in the other. Through the door to the left of the main sink is access to the new mudroom and powder room and existing attached garage. White inset cabinets, quartzite countertops, subway tile and nickel accents provide a traditional feel. The gray island is a needed contrast to the dark wood flooring. Last but not least, professional appliances provide the tools of the trade needed to make this one hardworking kitchen. Our clients wanted to update the bathroom on the main floor to reflect the style of the rest of their home. The clean white lines, gold fixtures and floating vanity give this space a very elegant and modern look.

Using the same wood that we used on the kitchen island, we created a simple and modern entertainment area to bring the style of the kitchen into the new living space.

FPA were approached to complete the modernisation of a large terrace townhouse in Pimlico that the clients had partially refurbished and extended using traditional idioms. The traditional Georgian cellular layout of the property has inspired the blueprint of the refurbishment. The extensive use of a streamlined contemporary vocabulary is chosen over a faux vernacular. FPA have approached the design as a series of self-contained spaces, each with bespoke features functional to the specific use of each room. They are conceived as stand-alone pieces that use a contemporary reinterpretation of the orthodox architectural lexicon and that work with the building, rather than against it. They say the magic thing about home is that it feels good to leave and even better to come back and that is exactly what this family wanted to create when they purchased their Bondi home and prepared to renovate. Like Marilyn Monroe, this 1920’s Californian-style bungalow was born with the bone structure to be a great beauty. From the outset, it was important the design reflect their personal journey as individuals along with celebrating their journey as a family. Using a limited colour palette of white walls and black floors, a minimalist canvas was created to tell their story. Sentimental accents captured from holiday photographs, cherished books, artwork and various pieces collected over the years from their travels added the layers and dimension to the home. Architrave sides in the hallway and cutout reveals were painted in high-gloss black adding contrast and depth to the space. Bathroom renovations followed the black a white theme incorporating black marble with white vein accents and exotic greenery was used throughout the home – both inside and out, adding a lushness reminiscent of time spent in the tropics. The Walton Barn project has undergone a large scale renovation including the main kitchen area where the clients wanted to create a classic contemporary kitchen with dining space for 4-6. As the barn renovation included a separate dining room, the clients preferred not to have another formal dining table in the kitchen so we designed this L-shape kitchen with an island incorporating banquette seating and the Langham table, providing an everyday dining area. This Mudroom doubles as a laundry room for the main level. Large Slate Tiles on the floor are easy to clean and give great texture to the space. Custom lockers with cushions give each family member a space for their belongings. A drop zone/planning center is a great place for mail and your laptop.
