This bedroom and full bathroom are part of an adventuresome project my wife and I embarked upon to create a complete apartment in the basement of our townhouse. We designed a floor plan that creatively and efficiently used all of the 385-square-foot-space, without sacrificing beauty, comfort or function – and all without breaking the bank! To maximize our budget, we did the work ourselves and added everything from thrift store finds to DIY wall art to bring it all together.
This fabric wall art was the piece that brought the whole room together. We searched through many options at a fabric store before we found the two pieces that we layered to create this custom piece.

Our clients had a couple young kids and wanted to renovate their house.
We used timber framing to extend and add-on to the existing home and significantly increase the square footage of the house. This provided both structural and aesthetic benefits for the project.
The kitchen has numerous local and handmade features, including a soapstone countertop and built-in sink.

Here you can see some contemporary and stylish towel racks next to the shower. The brushed nickel matches the other plumbing fixtures in this space, and the contemporary design is full of personality.

Due to the small size of this room it was important to keep an open feel and not break up the space which would make it feel even smaller. With this in mind we used a glass screen to create a walk in shower which allows you to see the full width of the room. Similarly, the floor tiles continue in to the shower area rather than break up the space with a shower tray.
