Carl did a great job with schematics for a downstairs kitchen renovation. He was an amazing and patient listener and took into consideration many details and ideas that we wanted incorporated. We highly recommend him and would love to work with him again in the future.

I have worked with Carl in few projects but our biggest project together was a gut renovation of the Village Triplex. Carl is a great architect and he is always on top of the project. He's very quick to respond whenever there an issue which helps any project go smoothly. My favorite thing about Carl is that he is very fair to both his clients and colleagues. As part of any construction there's always constrains but we were always able to find creative solutions to both design and cost. You can see this in the outcome of the project.

Carl was the project architect for the gut renovation of a Gramercy Park apartment; we were the builders. The project had a sophisticated level of detail which was executed through his detailed drawings and productive team site meetings. It was a team belief that successful high-end residential construction cannot be achieved in a vacuum and Carl was a huge part of the success. We look forward to building more together.

Carl Mahaney of Measuredworks Architecture helped us renovate a one-season family cabin in Maine. He gently coaxed our well-loved but worn-out 50s-era “camp” into a beautiful little lake retreat. He immediately understood our wish to keep the spirit of the original structure while incorporating modern touches and practical elements. The result is a petite jewel: a perfectly proportioned small lake cottage which works just as well for large gatherings as it does for two. Though still modest in size, the house is now large in function. It has regained its position at the center of our extended family, and Carl has no small part in that success. There were many constraints imposed on Carl within the scope of this work. Regulations restricting changes to the existing structure – due in part to its proximity to the lake — limited changes to the footprint, volume, and overall size. Carl met these conditions with creativity and clear thinking. He offered us options, which in turn allowed us to realize the maximize value of [what was most important to us in] our budget. Carl kept evidence of the original roof line exposed to the second level, referencing the past with an airy high ceiling. He provided an open floor plan which holds small environments or converts to charades for 20 with ease. He reimagined the old front deck – useable just a few hours a day (between morning chill and evening bugs), transforming it into a welcoming and expansive porch. It serves as the center of the house. Accessed by an oversized tri-fold door and framed with retractable screens, the porch seamlessly connects the house to the best of its environment - hosting lingering sunsets and staying open for late-night loon calls. We cannot imagine the cottage without it. Carl is meticulous in his methods, affable in his approach and reliable in meeting deadlines. We truly enjoyed collaborating with him and recommend Measuredworks Architecture without reservation.

When it came to planning and designing, even given our tight and piecemeal financing, there were no frustrations or stresses or delays, all due to Carl's patience, flexibility, foresight, and reliable diligence. Carl also helped us plan the best timeline to get the most our of time and money. And the results are better than we imagined-- perfect flow and function, and the aesthetic knocks the socks off our guests!
