“I was looking for someone deeply experienced in technical domains, (architecture, construction, and fabrication) to fit the requirements of my custom home, the Galer Street House. Thomas was tasked with production of the interior custom cabinetry and associated custom woodworking. From our first meeting, Thomas’s communication, experience and broad background gave me confidence that he would understand the complex geometries and be able to deliver the high-end quality needed for this application. From the custom handmade walnut cabinets, custom furniture-like features and being always available to help me when the details needed his attention, he delivered. I was not disappointed. In addition, when challenged by architectural details and budget constraints on the exterior of the home, Thomas, owner of Studio Walker Architects, Inc., was able to take a large burden off my shoulders with his durable design/build approach, which was substantially less expensive and also resulted in a better overall appearance. Thanks, Thomas!”

“Highest recommendation! We absolutely love the new custom home that Martin, with Concept Architecture, designed for us. Martin took our ideas and some very site specific requirements and created a home that is so much more than we expected. Martin is friendly, professional and REALLY listens. The very first draft sketches proved that he understood what we wanted and needed. He worked with the county to meet all of the special requirements for building on a slope near water.”

“They say it says a lot when a contractor hires an Architect to do design on his personal home, and it should say a lot about Skip. Skip did a great job listening to my wife and I dream up the list of remodel priorities we had for our out dated 60's waterfront rambler, and put into design exactly what we were hoping to accomplish. He was able to project not only his own costs in Architect fees accurately, but was also very savvy of current construction costs and kept his design in great relation to our budget. I highly recommend Skip's services and will look forward to our next great project together.”

“Armentrout Residence Our home was roughly a 1560 square foot Cape Cod cottage on a large lot. Originally, we intended to enlarge our kitchen, that eventually led to a larger addition and a full remodel. Our contractor, Norm Ferkingstad, introduced us to Bruce, an architect he’d worked with on other projects. We enjoyed working with Bruce as he really listened to what we wanted, he gave us so many choices, and introduced options we didn’t realize we had. Our home is now approximately 2900 square feet, including a new master suite. We wanted the original feel of a cottage to be maintained. Bruce did a great job. From the street, the house doesn’t look any larger than it originally did. From the sides and rear, the addition blends seam-lessly with the existing structure. Bruce did an amazing job expanding our small home, blending old with new, while keeping the charm. During early design meetings, Bruce stressed that we should interact with our home, not just exist in it. Bruce insights and recommendations added so much to our family’s home life experience. We really enjoy his creation of a variety of spaces to fulfill a diversity of moods. We have a large extended family, so we often have people visiting during the summer. We always hear from guests how comfortable our home is. They say it has a flow that leads you through the home. Parties and gatherings are comfortable and people are never clumped in the kitchen, but are spread throughout our home. Everyone comments there is a great balance of private space and inviting public space. We can easily have 30 people in our home without it feeling crowded. Yet, when it’s just the four of us, the house still feels cozy and warm. The design of our deck and outdoor space is inviting and in constant use. As a result our home has become the “go to place” for family events and parties, including a small private wedding in our backyard. We couldn’t be happier with our home. We love how Bruce blended our traditional desires with contem-porary ideas. Many times we have stood on a small hill on our property at night, looking down at our home, lit up, and take delight in what we have. We are so very thankful for what Bruce created for us. From design through construction, Bruce provided great customer service. He is patient and very respon-sive. He charges fair fees for superior design service. Not only do we highly recommend Bruce; we also hired him again for our next project, a separate carriage-style garage and home office. For us, Bruce is clearly an exceptional architect. “We hired Stephen and Ane to design our new kitchen and master bath. This was the second time we had hired them. They also designed a large remodel for us in early 2003 and we knew right away we wanted to work with them again. Working with them both was a pleasure. They were very good at listening carefully to what we wanted and coming back with great options of what we could do in our space. My husband and I have a very busy schedule but Stephen and Ane were always able to work around our schedule and meet us at our house which was very convenient for us. And what a relief that Stephen took care of all the necessary permitting with the city, which I know can sometimes be a big pain. Not only do they both design beautiful spaces, they were genuinely nice people to work with. I would certainly use them again and have been recommending them to all of my friends.”

“I am a retired Interior Designer and wanted to work with an architect who was up on the latest improvements in HVAC and plumbing. I had a pretty clear idea of the layout of our new house but needed help deciding on a contractor to hire as well as some creative structural details to make our 1800 sq. ft. single level home work for us as we age without looking like an "old folks home". Haven Design was instrumental in helping us select a contractor and we have been very pleased with the results.”

“Studio Owl came in on budget, on schedule, even better than first envisioned thanks to the architects helpful and expert advice. Minaker seamlessly worked with Gary Medima the contractor and the artist the studio was built for to come up with a delightful work space that sailed through the permitting process. We are very happy with the results and would unreservedly recommend both architect and builder for future projects. Mayumi Potter”
Stig Carlson Architecture
Architects in Arlington Heights, WA
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars31 January 2012
“We would highly recommend Stig Carlson as an architect for your project because he listens to our ideas, he understands that this will be our home, not just his design. Stig has the unique ability to diffuse a situation where the individuals disagree on a particular issue, to move beyond this point until the two have had an opportunity to discuss their views and then later he will remember to readdress this issue. Stig manages to keep the project moving forward when dealing with county officials who give vague guidelines by requesting specific details of what they will and will not accept. He is an effective advocate for your project and provides an excellent set of drawings for you and your builder to help eliminate unexpected costly and time consuming change orders His kind and gentle manner is well suited for any client, yet strength and knowledge arm him for county regulatory rhetoric. We are most pleased with our soon to be built home. Sharon Vaughn and Bruce Porter”
