Lignum Designs Limited

“We have just received planning permission for our internal reconfiguration which Simon has designed for us. He visited us on several occasions and helped us to see the potential in our property exploring all the options available. Together we talked through how we want to use the house and we have used every pocket of space to reach that potential. Simon has been friendly and accommodating throughout and he has kept in touch regularly. He talked us through the planning process and kept us updated whilst successfully securing planning permission. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Simon, he is a highly skilled architect and we thoroughly enjoyed working with him. Many thanks Simon!”

“A friendly and professional practice - a pleasure to work with. Impressive timber frame design knowledge and excellent communication made this project an absolute joy - we hope to work with you again soon.
So successful was this partnership that we've been jointly shortlisted for 'Best Oak Frame' at the Build It Awards 2014 - fingers crossed!

“Mike Bacon turn a rather horrible house in a beautiful setting into a really lovely house. The whole house was refurbished. Mike turned it upside down and reconfigured it so that it completely met the requirements of our family. This was not an easy task and he came up with ingenious solutions for several things such as how to move a staircase into the right place to make the whole house work. We now have a fabulous home with a 27 foot lounge looking over the sea, and a kitchen diner that can sit 12 round the table and still not feel crowded.
Mike was very good at working with us to deliver what we wanted - but also to make it really special. These were his ideas! And he dealt brilliantly with Parish Council and planning issues. Advised us on what was possible and this saved us a lot of time and money not trying to achieve what would have been unacceptable to the planners.
He also sorted out the dangerous and multilevel garden. Now safe and easy to use and enjoy.
We love our home, it is special and the whole family continues to love using it. It just works for us!”
Trotman & Taylor Architectural Consultants
Architects in Broadwoodwidger, Devon, UK
“We have used Trotman Taylor; aka Clayton Taylor, on 2 occasions:
The first time was for plans to build a 3 bay cart lodge - the plans produced were creative, comprehensive and instrumental in getting planning approval from Dartmoor National Park. Clayton guided us through the whole process.
The second time was to integrate a separated upper floor from the main house and link it into the other floors.
Again Clayton provided plans that were imaginative, innovative and maximised the use of the space. He also assisted with the application for Building Control to a successful conclusion.
In both cases Clayton was thorough with several site visits, he communicated well at all stages of the planning with patience and full explanations of the different options for the build. His business plan was clearly set out.
Clayton was able to recommend local builders and tradesmen all of whom said that ‘if you can't build off Claytons plans , you cant build off anything as they are so comprehensive and leave nothing to chance!’
We consider Cayton’s services to be excellent value for money and wouldn't hesitate to use this business again and we would recommend him to anyone.”

Scarratt & Martyn
Architects in Broadwoodwidger, Devon, UK
“Employed to design a house and garage in Devon. We asked for the design to have WOW factor and we certainly got that. Subsequently employed to oversee building works and issue architects certificate upon completion. The project was totally successful, 'Scarratt & Martyn' were a joy to work with and we are working with them currently on a new project.”
Woodford Architecture and Interiors
Architects in Broadwoodwidger, Devon, UK
“A really outstanding business.
We used the team at Woodford to help us update an old Rectory we had purchased. Gavin developed the new design for our kitchen, en-suite master bedroom and two other bathrooms. He picked up very cleverly on existing design elements of the original Georgian rectory and incorporated these into a modern but appropriate twist for the new designs.
We ended up following all Sarah's proposals for flooring, wall colours, kitchen & bathroom fixtures & fittings. She also developed beautiful ideas for curtains and roman-blinds and was able to recommend a great local company who provided the fabrication (and who did a really good job on this).
In summary, their advice and professionalism was wide-ranging, great value-for-money and time-generous.
Gavin & Sarah and the team at Woodford absolutely exceeded our expectations.”
The Bazeley Partnership
Architects in Broadwoodwidger, Devon, UK
“Bazeley's eye for detail is faultless. They seem to have a knack of transforming spaces into real design pieces, and this has been recognised by the numerous awards they have received over the years.
They have also recently signed up to the Architect in the House scheme - http://www.architectinthehouse.org.uk/ - which supports the Shelter charity for the homeless, showing their dedication not only to their immediate work, but also to the wider community.”
