“Working with Ben Robbins (and the entire team at Pillar & Perch) has truly been a wonderful experience. Throughout our project to design and build a new home for us, they have consistently been knowledgeable, professional, and are a pleasure to work with. After listening to what we wanted and looking at our lot, Ben’s first design was nearly spot on (we only tweaked a few very minor things). That was impressive! Then, throughout the build process, they have gone out of their way to please us and ensure that we’re happy. Ben is very responsive and keeps us informed as to what is going on, and has even found us some ways to save money without sacrificing from the architectural integrity of the project. I highly recommend this company, and would use them again in a heartbeat.”

I was referred to their company from one of the top reputable builders in Nelson County for my Amherst project. My Amherst client's hired me on as their interior designer. It was a great day when I called Greg Winkler. He has such patience with great attention to detail along with a phenomenal work ethic. His professionalism my client's were also very impressed by. The collaboration between Greg and I along with the client's vision helped create the perfect plans. The end result was a huge success! “Mr. Gilpin is an approved architect for The Greenbrier Sporting Club, which is a private, members only residential community on the grounds of the historic Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. He has designed many residences on property and is also a member of the Greenbrier Sporting Club Architectural Review Board. His attention to detail is beyond reproach and his designs are truly a work of art. “Anthony designed our "Green" house, to include geothermal heating, air conditioning, and hydronic radiant floor heat; all natural materials including reclaimed wood, all wood custom cabinets, stone/concrete floors, all-wood interior trim, cedar/stone/cement board exterior; all low/no VOC products; energy efficient casement windows; custom built vanities and other features; and attic design/rough-ins for future living space. Anthony was completely involved, provided oversight, and intervened when necessary, in every phase of the project, from design to building to punch list to warranty work. His knowledge and expertise resulted in a National Green Building Standard (NGBS) "Silver" rating, and his involvement and personalized service exceeded our expectations. You won't find anyone in the building industry more dependable and easier to with; he's like an island in shark infested waters.”

“Greg and Joel were excellent from the beginning of construction. By the time construction was completed, they were like members of the family (even sharing Christmas cookies). We wanted an addition of a master bedroom and bath on the first floor without it looking like an add-on. Greg designed the addition, and you cannot tell it was not a part of the original house built 28 years ago. All crews involved in the work were professional, hardworking, and friendly. Greg and Joe worked along side all the outside contractors. We were very impressed with all who had a part in the construction. Greg paid attention to details to make sure everything was done to his specifications. Whenever we had concerns, Greg addressed them, and they were resolved to our satisfaction. He has kept up with today's design options and made recommendations that would be advantageous to us if we ever sell. He put in a conditioned crawl space which should be very economical for us. Those who had to work there said they had never seen or worked in a nicer crawl space. Being elderly, Greg made the addition as age friendly as possible for us. We are very happy with the addition and would recommend Greg and Joel for first-class construction.”

“We retained Michael C. Brown to review our "very preliminary" concept plans for an outbuilding to be located in the Historic Town of Manteo, NC. We wanted the design to feel similar to the net houses that one would have found on the Island . Michael was able to quickly evaluate the plan and make recommendations for materials for construction and to provide final design drawings for the contractor. Michael exceeded our expectations on schedule and design.”
