“I was commissioned by Miles to shoot this beautiful Summer House . Miles specialises in the Japanese technique Shikkui polished plaster. Working with his assistant Katie B Morgan they created this beautiful room. In 2010, he became an Industry Partner for the British Institute of Interior Design serving as one of 4 accredited muralists. In 2012, Miles travelled to Japan to work with several shikkui plasterers under the guiding hand of Nobuyoshi Yukihira san, president of the Shikkui Association and Tagawa Sangyo, Japan's leading manufacturer of shikkui lime plaster. Miles is one of the few UK based, japanese trained practioners of shikkui polished plaster, he is an approved applicator. An excellent person to work for who was very clear on how he wanted to use the photographs. Miles gave me the freedom and trusted me to shoot his project using my experiance as a editorial interiors photographer. Miles Negus -Fancey Design LLP is on the list of House and Garden approved artisans.”
