He was especially helpful in helping me choose a hardwood floor. The way he helped me understand what was best was an art form. He wasn’t pushy, just knowledgeable. “Michael Shannon and his team worked on a complete cosmetic renovation of the wash room in my then newly-purchased condo. I knew exactly what I wanted done, and when we had our initial consultation, Michael completely understood what I was going for, and even made great suggestions to refine the project even more. All in all, the process from beginning to end was seamless. It also helped that I wasn't living in the space while the reno took place, but that also likely helped speed things along. Michael was always easy to get in touch with via phone or email, and quick to respond to things. He also made sure I understood everything that was happening, as well as ensured that all of my questions were answered. His team also worked well within the strict guidelines of my building, which was a bonus. Overall, the whole process went pretty smoothly, and just about two weeks after the demo took place, I was left with an updated bathroom that I am extremely happy with. Michael and team does extremely well with attention to detail, and really honing in on bringing the customer's vision of the space to life. And given the age of the building, he was able to highlight the areas where I could essentially save money where possible, and overall guiding me through as I made such decisions. I highly recommend Michael and his team for your renovation needs, and wouldn't hesitate to work with him on future projects.”

“We previously worked with Granitech about 10 years ago to install granite kitchen countertops. Based on our positive experience, we contracted with them again to remodel our master bathroom. We were so pleased with the outcome during the project that we also replaced a tile guest bathroom floor and tile kitchen backsplash. The master bath project took about two weeks. The Granitech team was prompt, professional, courteous, hard working, diligent and experts in their work. They were just plain enjoyable to work with. The designer, Jennifer, was creative and energetic and her attention to details made all the difference in the world. We are so pleased with all our recent projects--absolutely beautiful work. We will definitely call Granitech next time we undertake renovations.”

“Between 2002 and 2003, Michael Ipsan/Horizon took a small 1,800 square foot circa 1942 farmhouse and integrated an addition that more than tripled the size of the house and resulted in a beautiful contemporary farmhouse, with upgrades to plumbing, electrical, windows and siding in the original part of the house. The integration was seamless and the project came in on-time and on-budget, with wonderful workmanship. While we had retained an architect for the overall design, Michael made many useful suggestions on tweaks to the design that significantly improved the outcome. The kitchen and pantry were recognized by HGTV in their American Home 2005 show, and in 2008 the house was recognized with a spot on the Historic Garden Week in Virginia tour, both testaments to the quality of the construction. We've had other friends who've had nightmare construction projects with other builders; our experience was exactly the opposite. Warranty issues were minor, and Horizon has stood behind the construction even to this day. In the years since it was completed we've been happy to have Michael walk other prospective clients through the house to see what was done, which speaks to our respect for his work and honesty. We can highly recommend Horizon to anyone considering a custom home builder.”
