“Richard’s design and horticultural expertise has transformed our property. He has crafted a landscape that embraces and compliments our home, and merges nicely with the abundant old-growth trees that define the character of our neighborhood.
His philosophy of creating natural landscapes, that once established are self-sustaining, appeals to our aesthetic preference and practical need. We hired him to design a master plan to be executed in phases over several years, and the results so far are beautiful.
For a recent phase he added a soft berm, set with Belgium block, to mitigate storm water runoff from surrounding slopes. An old privet hedgerow that stretched across the back of the property was replaced with native conifers that screen a service road and provide a backdrop for a majestic native Black Gum tree and waves of colorful perennials. Long-blooming flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies. The result is an elegant, informal, four season environment.
A future phase will include a bluestone patio and pergola, new walkways and additional plantings of ornamental shrubs and perennials.
Richard has done an amazing job of coordinating all aspects of planning and project management. He is very hands on. All work has been completed on budget and on time. The results have been gratifying and well worth our investment.
We highly recommend Richard as a designer, consultant and project manager!”
