“From our first meeting with Tom Kusmerz, The Barn Nursery, we were sold on working with that company and looked no further. Through conversation and walking around on our property, Tom was able to create a hardscape design concept that we just loved. Our retaining wall was failing and we needed to redesign the whole thing. With his help we chose natural stone that blended well with our existing house brick and pool decking and gave us both the color and natural look we were after. Tom worked with our pool and concrete contractors so everything on our project was done in the right order and no one had to wait on someone else. With Tom's design on our retaining wall and how the base materials were installed, we were able to reduce the costs of our concrete decking repair by half of the original bid and we have a beautiful, natural looking retaining wall that will last forever. The crews working on our project from The Barn Nursery were great. I looked forward to their arrival every morning. They were neat, efficient, friendly and very hard working. I could tell that they really took pride in their workmanship and the job came out beautifully. My family and I look forward to their return in the spring to help us with our plantings. We quoted the project with 3 local contractors, and although the 3 quotes were not apples-to-apples, Evergreen offered the best price and more importantly, the best options that most closely matched the size and scope of our quote request. The project started and completed on time, and despite the heavy equipment and materials used for the projected, the disruption from the actual construction was minimal. “Ben Himschoot & the HDS team were fantastic to work with. My husband and I enjoyed the entire process from start to finish for our backyard project. Right away we choose Ben because of his personalized approach, and you'll realize this later but he definitely manages your wish list within your budget to get the most out while not having to sacrifice quality. Our project required a little bit of everything as we had a big fixer-upper with issues to address including flooding, a ginormous tree stump, concrete excavation, implementing adequate drainage, installing a gas fire pit and pavers. Ben's team was able to stick to the timeline and budget as best they could (no one knew the concrete was one-foot deep!) and we are so happy we made this investment especially since we spend the majority of the quarantine out there now! I couldn't recommend anyone better for who's ever thinking about doing some work around the house even for the "easy" projects.
