10 Reviews for Jamie Reid Landscape & Garden Design Ltd
We engaged Jamie to design the courtyard around our newly built home. It was a small & difficult space to work with Jamie was very professional & knowledgeable, spent the time to listen to what we wanted to achieve & within our budget. He had great suggestions with regards to using different materials to make the area more interesting The design was perfect & included everything we wanted, plans were to scale which made them easy to follow as we were doing all the work ourselves. Plans also included the colour scheme, lighting & a full planting schedule Extremely pleased with the end result & would highly recommend Jamie for any landscape design work Kerry & Margaret Wilson Khandallah

We asked Jamie to help us with the design and project management of our residential landscaping project with the brief of an affordable and low maintenance solution. Jamie exceeded our expectations with his creativeness, efficiency and communication, and we are very happy with the final result. We found Jamie easy to deal with and would recommend him to anyone seeking help with their landscaping.

We engaged Jamie Reid Landscape and Garden Design to develop a plan and oversee the work on our back section; our aim was to have a practical, family-friendly space that was aesthetically pleasing and that we could play on now, but that could also continue to develop over time. The starting point was a sloping to steep section in pretty rough shape! Jamie designed an appealing flat lawn area that is nicely connected to the house on one side, our daughter’s playhouse on another, the veg patch on another, and a sloping ramp on the fourth; a key to maintaining the connections was Jamie’s care to use modest retaining walls – he has avoided any overly-imposing structures. Jamie was excellent to work with; he is professional while also warm and friendly, he listens carefully to what you want and hears what is important to you. For us it was both a bit of what we wanted (a flat area on our sloping site) and how to achieve it (strong and durable with good drainage). He brings experience of what will and won’t work and is skilled at communicating it. Jamie has a great eye for design and enjoys bringing planting plans in to achieve an overall result. He understands and negotiates with skill the minefield of what can be achieved with what price. He also worked well with the building crew and kept a close eye on how the work was executed. We are delighted with the results and are looking forward to enjoying it over summer!

Jamie designed our new front garden which has just been completed and looks amazing! His recommendation for the path has worked out really well and his planting plan has come together so the whole area looks beautiful - see the attached pics! Jamie was lovely to work with and i trusted his judgement, he did a great job, thanks Jamie :-)

Jamie was professional and delightful. His design and suggestions were in tune with our thoughts and he was quick to adapt if we wanted a small change. The team he chose to do our work did it efficiently and speedily within the deadline and budget. We would happily ask Jamie to do further work in our garden should we need to but what he has created for us will only get better over time.

Jamie redesigned my courtyard, from concept design through to planting plan and project management. I chose Jamie over other landscape designers as he took the time to really understand what I wanted and worked with me to create a space that meets my needs. Jamie’s work is very professional; he is thorough and a stickler for detail – which comes in handy when managing a project through to completion. I'm extremely pleased with the outcome, and recently engaged Jamie again to provide a design and planting plan for a small space at the front of my house. I would highly recommend Jamie and would not hesitate to use him again.

We asked Jamie to create an outdoor space that would suit a busy family with teenage children. Our section was relatively small with very little open space. Our priorities were that it was easy care, attractive and would be a 'hub' for outdoor entertaining. His design was exactly what we were looking for. We now have an outdoor living area that we can use in year round (as long as the Wellington weather obliges) that is private and attractive, and most importantly easy to maintain. Jamie also worked to project-manage the job for us. I was impressed with both his attention to detail and ability to work with the contractors on our job. He was thoroughly professional throughout our dealings and very good to work with.

Jamie was a very attentive and prompt contractor. He had an excellent eye for contemporary design and created a fabulous plan for our garden landscaping/renovation. His service was also provided on a very cost effective basis. I would highly recommend Jamie Reid Landscape and Garden Design for any other home garden renovation project.

I have engaged the services of Jamie Reid Landscaping and Design on two separate occasions; one to provide a planting plan for the front garden and the other, to design a folly for a rear garden. Front garden: Jamie popped around for an initial consultation to understand my requirements. We negotiated our way through the consult and came to a mutual agreement of what was essentially, a remit for an English-style Cottage garden in Khandallah. There was regular communication from Jamie and I was kept apprised throughout the process. Jamie provided a comprehensive to-scale planting plan. Jamie also offered to not only source the plants but to also project manage the landscaping. It was, however, my preference to do the donkey work myself. The end results is a magnificent year-round English-style Cottage garden. We constantly get positive comments from locals and visitors alike at the rarity of seeing a Cottage garden in Khandallah. We also happily allowed the Khandallah School access for their bi-annual garden tour. Rear garden: Two years post-front garden completion, I engaged Jamie to design a folly for the rear garden and suggest some planting ideas. Being nestled into a native-dominant bank, Jamie suggested aromatic and colourful plantings, e.g. heuchera, clivia, hostas, etc. The folly design went through a number of iterations and we settled on a structure of Greywacke stone pillars with a Wedgewood blue metal framework for the 'roof' and Buttercup yellow bench seats and bearers. Once complete, the colurful folly just 'popped' against the background. Jamie suggested rebuilding the riverstone walls with the same stone as the pillars. This was a masterstroke as it tied the house and rear garden together. All-in-all an extremely satisfactory result. I have found Jamie to be very patient, knowledgeable and inclusive, and also willing to offer alternatives. I will certainly use Jamie's services again, regardless of where we are in the region.
