“I have engaged the services of Jamie Reid Landscaping and Design on two separate occasions; one to provide a planting plan for the front garden and the other, to design a folly for a rear garden. Front garden: Jamie popped around for an initial consultation to understand my requirements. We negotiated our way through the consult and came to a mutual agreement of what was essentially, a remit for an English-style Cottage garden in Khandallah. There was regular communication from Jamie and I was kept apprised throughout the process. Jamie provided a comprehensive to-scale planting plan. Jamie also offered to not only source the plants but to also project manage the landscaping. It was, however, my preference to do the donkey work myself. The end results is a magnificent year-round English-style Cottage garden. We constantly get positive comments from locals and visitors alike at the rarity of seeing a Cottage garden in Khandallah. We also happily allowed the Khandallah School access for their bi-annual garden tour. Rear garden: Two years post-front garden completion, I engaged Jamie to design a folly for the rear garden and suggest some planting ideas. Being nestled into a native-dominant bank, Jamie suggested aromatic and colourful plantings, e.g. heuchera, clivia, hostas, etc. The folly design went through a number of iterations and we settled on a structure of Greywacke stone pillars with a Wedgewood blue metal framework for the 'roof' and Buttercup yellow bench seats and bearers. Once complete, the colurful folly just 'popped' against the background. Jamie suggested rebuilding the riverstone walls with the same stone as the pillars. This was a masterstroke as it tied the house and rear garden together. All-in-all an extremely satisfactory result. I have found Jamie to be very patient, knowledgeable and inclusive, and also willing to offer alternatives. I will certainly use Jamie's services again, regardless of where we are in the region.”

“Homescapes turned our steep crumbling bank into an attractive and useable garden. Bill came up with a really creative and unique design that worked with the landscape and addressed our needs as a family – he even incorporated some of our children’s ideas into the design! He and his team were pleasant to deal with and we’re very pleased with the results.”

“I can't recommend these guys enough. They turn up when they say they will. They do the job they say they are going to do and most importantly all the way through the communication is outstanding. I initially got in touch because I needed a retaining wall replaced. I expected there were going to be problems because of the age and condition of the property and there were. This meant we ended up needing new stairs as well as the wall but it was all communicated to me before anything was actioned so I felt completely in control throughout the entire project. After they had finished the wall everything was cleaned up and left looking great so I asked if they might be able to fix up and finish a paving project and within a week there was a team measuring and a quote prepared. The work was completed ahead of time and once again the communication was outstanding. I now have them working on a design for the rest of the landscaping and I feel confident that any further projects will be done with the same professionalism.”

“Catherine was a pleasure to deal with, I really enjoyed working with her on our water feature garden project. She was resourceful and went the extra mile to ensure we were happy with the final plan/result. Catherine listened carefully with a professional approach to my brief and made excellent suggestions to suit the site and conditions. “We contracted Jon from Wellington Gardens to design a garden for us, and to then implement that design. The design included the following build elements; a long wooden retaining wall (1.2m down and up), gates, a raised pebble stone area, a large deck (with railings), a sloped concrete path to the house, lights, and clearing & planting. Jon brought a practical approach to the design and build and was a pretty good judge of what was important to us (even if he underestimated my passion for right angles). He was very keen to avoid unnecessary cost for us. In the implementation of the build Jon brought a fantastic team of sub-contractors. Their professionalism and high standards were exceptional! I assume that we paid more overall than we might have if we had contracted and managed the work ourselves. However the quality of interaction and workmanship would almost certainly not have been as high. And it would have been considerably more stress. Through the build Jon was always available, whether at our very regular onsite catch ups, or at the end of a phone. At all times it felt like he was giving the build his full attention - even though we were aware that he had other jobs on the go. So in summary, we were very happy with our engagement with Jon and Wellington Gardens, and would not hesitate to use them again.”

“Shelley helped us plan our new garden project in a very friendly and professional manner. She brought her strong gardening and planting expertise to bear and provided us with a positive direction for the project, good design sense and helpful links to allow us to proceed with confidence. Shelly was always very communicative, prompt and courteous. At the start of the project we agreed a schedule for her services which was clear and unambiguous and which generally avoided any 'fluffiness' and allowed us to de-stress our project. Our project was a garden plan for three areas immediately surrounding our house - on three sides of the house - involving mixed planting / pathways / decking. It would have been around 200 sqm. Happy to employ Shelley again.”
