living room configuration dilemma
Hello all! I have a dilemma and am looking for your expert guidance on how to furnish my awkward, small living room for a Family of 4.
Yellow arrow represents hallway entry to the lounge area.
Blue arrow is where I would ideally like to hang the TV so I can see it from the kitchen/meals island when cooking 🤓
Green arrow measures 3.3m
Orange measures 5.1m
Purple measures 3.0m
And then theres the old fireplace in bottom right corner which if needed can be removed and walls squared off maybe??
And then there’s the annoying column to the right of the purple arrow which is structural and needs to stay.
The window is to the right of the fireplace.
Any tips and advice will be very very much appreciated!

2 months agoSomething like this. Small tv positioned on dining wall for a better view for the kitchen users. A larger tv on the left hand wall of living area over a buffet or tv unit. A corner sofa or two separate sofas in the living area. The yellow line marks the walk way area through the living.

Shared bathroom, doubles as ensuite, long narrow space! Help!
Comments (13)Thanks houssaon and rinqreation! Funny - hubby has the same 2 door hate! It sounds like I'm being outvoted on the shared ensuite idea. :) We've actually been set on both the configurations you suggested, we moved away from yours houssaon because we really wanted to keep a closed off office space (and hubby built the front deck and landing already for the door at the end of the hallway!). And I don't know why we shifted the door on the bedroom back to the same area, I think it was about having easy access to all the kids bedrooms. But maybe we should shift it back as you suggest rinqreation. Joice, the door at the end of the hallway is the front door, the entrance closest to the street, that you would come to first if you were a visitor. Not totally necessary, but we reinstated it before we decided we wanted the entrance up the stairs (middle bottom) which would be under a carport. Thanks for all your input!! Comments (12)The ghost chairs are AMAZING! Very strong and stable. It brings a a lot of space for a small room and the loui style are very classy. Ok I will buy the table, it's goof price and I totally love it. I am living in a construction camp at the moment! Everything is a mess but I hope everything will look beautiful when the renovation finishes. I've attached some other photos of a bedroom and the foyer (of those we've taken so far), but are absolutely open to suggestions on a "beachy" feel as well or instead of. Comments (13)There is nothing worse than ceiling-mounted lights--harsh shadows, flat lighting. They are strictly for utility. I would put a large-ish, shallow cylindrical shade on them and put nothing more than a 15-watt bulb in them. Use them strictly for lighting your way as you walk through the room. I agree with Vincent; the chair in the corner doesn't fit at all, nor does the one under the A/C unit (put that one with its mate behind the love seat). And the curtains look smooshed. I think the problem with the bookcases is that they are uninteresting. Did you buy books-by-the-yard? What are all those identical books? They are visually uninteresting. I'd get rid of some of them and get some colorful ceramics/glass/photos. The room is absolutely overwhelmed with furniture. It needs one less love seat. Do you really need all of them? Pushing them against the walls/curtains so tightly just visually emphasizes the fact that there is too much furniture. I don't think a mirror above the fireplace will work. When people are sitting down (which is most of the time), all they will see is a reflection of the ceiling--the plain, white ceiling. Get some real art in there with some color....See More
