could you please share what material is used for pool deck. is it concrete and how do you get this pattern and texture. also would this type of surface be prone to cracking, especially in earthquake zone?
Hi, the coating on this deck was applied to repair and enhance an old concrete deck. The coating is an acrylic-cementous material that adheres to the existing concrete. The existing cracks and joints are honored by cutting what is called a "custom cut and score" pattern. As with any concrete coating preparation is one of the keys to success. Keep in mind this is a coating and if there is seismic activity and the concrete below it cracks, ti will crack the coating. We have found this coating to be very successful. it is cooler than concrete, consistent in color, and easy to clean. We have applied it to over thirty pool deck in Inland Empire Southern California where there is a wide temperature range. Our installer has applied it to driveways, warehouse floors and many commercial applications. It substantially improves the value of an old concrete deck.
