I'd like to suggest that the most important thing here is more about who is using the room. If It's a child's bedroom use lovely children's curtains - there's so much around and any pattern could pick up the wall and floor colours. If a guest room and not used often I'd suggest a beautiful velvet or good quality Linen and forbid the little ones from going in to that room!!!!!! alternately a blind attached at floor level could be raised or lowered so the view is still there but with privacy from waist height perhaps. If it's brand new, have you tried asking the supplier what they recommend? We got a booklet from our supplier when we got new carpet with ways to treat various stains on that particular carpet. Each kind of carpet will be different. Also, have you tried a professional carpet cleaner? If all else fails, try your luck with your insurance company - I know others who have got carpet replaced because of bad stains - depends on your policy.

I think the brands you have listed are good! What colour were you thinking? How have you gotten the opportunity to import carpet? I hope it's not too expensive for you!

We are building a new house, and want charcoal carpet. Not tending to brown nor a dark greeny shade... a proper light black. Has anyone from NZ got any brand or color they could recommend? Photos would be helpful too. We have chosen light honey wooden floorboards for the kitchen & scullery, and black tiles in bathroom, and greyish tiles in the ensuites... Getting nerves it is not going to all tie in....
