I have just bought a new dining suite, love the table but hate the chairs. The sideboard and mirror above are dark so wondered should I buy a dark coffee table to match the dining table or a lighter wood. Is there too much going on here?
Try wood and glass. Consider hanging the mirror vertically and about 5" from the sideboard top. You could also move the table under the light fixture, change it out for a chandelier, and put the sideboard and mirror on the clock wall where the mirror could double the chandy which should hang 36" or less above the table top.

I used to have a glass coffee table but the sun reflected on it in the afternoon and so we need a wooden one. Love your idea about moving the table and dresser but stuck there because we need the room to walk past the dresser into the bedroom. Many many thanks.
