Help me choose a wallpaper!!
Comments (25)There are tons of papers available that would go with your midcentury home. Many people tire of a paper quicker than they are ready to redecorate and they can also look dated in a couple of years. Metallic papers were big im midcentury...perhaps a metallic silver paper? Are you also considering paint? You can get it in so many textures and a blue wall to match the blue in your loveseat would be lovely with some midcentury art and sculpture, or photographs on it. A mirrored wall with or without art or sculpture would also work with midcentury. These treatments are easier to adapt should you wish to change the look slightly from time to time. I would suggest replacing your stairrail with chrome or acrylic if that is in the budget...see how well the loveseat frame looks with the fabric? I hope you will post the "after" photos for us to see. Above all, enjoy the process!...See MoreHanging pictures
Comments (1)1. Turn over the frames so you are looking at the back. Make sure the hangers are attached correctly. I've had some where it was put on crooked which throws everything off. 2. Line up the frames in the order you want them--spacing etc. 3. Double check the order and spacing. 4, Run masking tape the full width of the group. (If 5 frames, run across all five, maintaining spacing, etc.) Insert nail to puncture the tape. 5. Remove nails; carefuly remove tape and put on wall. 6. Center; level and done...See MoreBedroom Wall Art
Comments (2)Hi. My instinct is to use a set of pictures of a consistent style and theme -- and I'm thinking photographs. I think b/w pics would look wonderful, but not with the pendant light you have. So if that is staying, I'd prefer more feminine and colourful pics. If you were to use b/w, I think a slim black frame and a matte that picks up the grey of the wall would be great to transition between that and the photographic grey. Colour could get away with no matte, but I'd still suggest a very slim black frame to outline the images. As below -- please click on the image if you can't see both the room and the two sample pictures. The colour one came from a common domain site; I've provided the source of the other (though I cropped it -- the original is even better). http://www.alienregion.com/bpinbw.html...See MoreCeramic floor tiles
Comments (2)those tiles from the 1800s are encaustic... the color goes all the way through. ceramic tiles are red in the middle and have just a relatively thin layer of color and glaze. porcelain tiles do have a color matched center (look at the edges to tell) but i'm not certain that all of the pattern goes through. at least it would wear off and turn the main color, not red....See MoreRafaella Politis
